is there a reason someone has to level up past lvl40?
i played some month (or even a year+) from level 41 to 42 (i guess thats where you had to raid), just because i didnt do any raids. now i’m lvl47 and there is nothing taht changed from being lvl41
I am doing the same. I decided to stay at level 40 (I have the exp I need, currenty and 7.5)
I really like the catch counter. My goal is to catch around 150 Pokemons a day. And the counter (for one of the challenges) helps me to track this. Only problem is that I can’t catch more then 200, but most days that isn’t a problem

Level 41 player here with enough XP to be 42 – One of the challenges between levels 41 and 42 are to evolve all forms of Eevee. Some of those evolutions require you to make Eevee your buddy, so they might be waiting until whoever is already their buddy is fully leveled up. That’s what’s keeping me from leveling. I’ve done all the evolutions before I had this task, so I’m going having to do the buddy grind instead of naming trick for mine. I see that the player above has way more xp than me, but I think the Eevee grind could be a large hiccup.
They may just not do raids. When they first came out I tried some and failed badly didn’t really get how they worked and didn’t bother with them again until 2021. Now I get them and do them regularly, but I don’t think it’s impossible they just don’t.
Two of the challenges are evolve all eevees and use items to evolve 15 times.
Maybr they just arent doing them.
No way they wouldnt complete the other two.
Outside of the rewards, no other benefit to levelling up. You can already max out pokemon at that level
Im guessing its either because grunts get harder as you level up so they are trying to farm easy shadows or they’re just lazy and don’t want to do the eeveelutions
Sort of related question: when this person DOES do all the tasks to level up to 42, does the XP he/she earned over the level 41 limit count towards the lvl 42-43 progression?
I know someone who has stopped at 45 as they said the grunts are too hard beyond that level. Seems a strange one but each to their own!

I’m level 48 with 192 million xp. Currently at 39 of 50 lucky trades.
Not in a hurry since I won’t be able to do all the 50 tasks anyways.
Wait, what?!? You have to do all the Evees again??? This is heartbreaking news. I assumed you were good if they were all in the Pokédex. I am so glad to know this ahead of time. Wow! Kicking myself for using up all the code names back on Eevee community day. Dang. I guess I need to start caring about Eevie again.

There’s a chance, now hear me out, that this person logged in during the events when the level cap was raised then hasn’t played again. They were an old grinder that just stopped.
Yeah, I’m like this with 40….i can’t be bothered to do the 200 catches a day.
Plus, im waiting for my other family members to level up to make trading easier.
My one friend is at level 43 and absolutely hates PVP so she has enough XP to count as double the level up and refuses to do the PVP tasks. I don’t blame her. To each their own. Play how you want to play.

Not lazy. Logical. What comes after level 50? How much xp will be required. As far as I’m concerned lagging because of xp is frustrating so I’m holding at 46 with an extra 12m xp and won’t level up until I have enough to go past level 50.
I know people don’t like to discuss this, but there are tons of accounts now that farm using those bots. It’s easy for them to catch 3000+ Pokemon on Community Day, and all of them will be with Excellent throws. It’s a landslide of XP.
They farm these accounts to either keep, sell, or to trade with their main accounts. Yes….this person could just possibly not be doing the Eevee-lutions, which would be rare but also plausible. But the better explanation is this account is just being botted up. I have a few as friends and they constantly invite me to raids all over the world. Honestly can’t complain because he always has 10+ in each raid.
I have a friend in a similar situation (I just checked and it’s not him) who says he’s staying there because 41 is his favorite number.
The biggest advantage is that all rocket battles will be a bit easier. Your level has a direct impact on the cp of your opponents Pokémon. It’s a subtle increase, but rockets do get harder with each level you gain
The biggest thing you miss out on by not levelling up is the special research you get at levels 43, 45, 48, and 50 that have [nice rewards](https://pokemongohub.net/post/guide/level-43-45-48-and-50-challenges-tasks-and-rewards/)
ive seen this a few times 1 person who has it like this is cause they dont play pvp so he is lvl locked its like win 30 battle or something in master great and ultra leagues so he should be a lvl 39 but hes locked at whatever it is till he plays those pvp battles
When I was part of an active Raiding community in a downtown area before the level 40 cap was raised, there were 10-12 players with hordes of XP in the ~hundreds of millions. Their excuse was that “the level cap will get raised soon and I’ll have the hard part done.” I can still find a couple of them on my friends list who burned themselves out and hung it up sitting on a mound of XP.
Even of the people that still play, only 2 guys I know of slammed through the challenges and got level 50 within a month of the raise. Everyone else is slowly making their way through the level challenges.

i was on level 44 for so long because of the leader battles, by the time i reached 45 it was almost time for 46. wasn’t mad about it after the fact lol
Maybe I’m missing something, but how does one prevent leveling up and how do you save your XP?

Well in fairness why level?
You can get XL candy already.
You can level your pokemon to max level.
What more do you gain at level 50? A few clothing options for your avatar and a pose along with bragging rights, and some level up items.
Sure it’s a bit of bonuses but nothing you really need and team rocket will get more powerful, you need to do tedious tasks and it can be dull.
Unless they release level 60 so will you just not get much for being level 50, 40 or 50 is pretty much the same except for avatar items.
Personally, I hold out on leveling up when I can. I try to stay close to my kiddo level wise, and I’m about 3 mil xp ahead of him. I will take one goal and try to not do it; most of them happen naturally through game play, though. It lets us do the level challenge goals together and let’s us do our grinding at the same time. We are currently level 45, and I will wait until we both hit the xp mark before finishing the snapshot goal to move to 46 together.
I do this. After level 40 there’s no incentive to level up. Level 40>41 tasks are nearly impossible to avoid with changing gameplay. Level 41>42 all you have to do is not evolve Eevee.
I personally stopped leveling at level 41 and am hoarding XP.
I already know I’m not getting past lvl 48 if I do even make it that far. 50 lucky trades? Psssh.
