IVS VS PVP IV QUESTION

I know this has been talked about a lot in the group, but I still don’t understand. So sorry for asking. I’m just trying to understand the difference between IVS and PVP IVs. I have a 98 IV Pokémon but his PVP is at only at 68. So what would this Pokémon be good for? I was under the impression you want high IV for gyms and fighting. Is this not true? I’m so confused (I started playing when the game came out and then stopped for a few years. I’m just getting back into it.)

The attack stat of a Pokemon has a bigger effect on the CP growth. More attack means more CP with each power up, and less attack causes the opposite.

The lower the attack stat the more power ups a Pokemon can get before reaching the CP limit in PvP, so a high attack Pokemon is rated poorly because it can be powered up less times, which results in a lower total in their stats.

Most good PvP Pokemon have close to zero attack and very high defense and HP to maximize both level and bulk.

High attack Pokemon are useful in raids, gyms and Rocket battles, specially the legendary, the new shadow and the powerful mega Pokemon. Mega Blaziken is one of the strongest in both fire and fighting, so with those stats it’s very useful in raids, but not very good in PvP.

For Ultra League and Great League you generally want Pokemon that have low attack, high defense, and high hp. For Master League you want all three as high as possible. Why? Because that’s how Niantic came up with it. The idea behind it is that by having low attack, high defense, and high HP, you get a total higher stat product. This intern helps your Pokémon be more competitive in a PVP scenario when it comes to Great League an Ultra League specifically.

For your Blaziken a 14/15/15 would be perfect for Master League. However, it’s not a great Pokemon to use in that league.
