I almost forgot to do this lol

Following on from last week’s Year 1 video, the pool for this video spans those introduced in the first anniversary (SS Blue, SS Leaf, etc.) up to the update right before the second anniversary (Hop, Sidney, etc.).

Year 2 saw the introduction of the first Master Fairs, and while they aren’t the faces of the metagame that they once were, it truly cannot be understated how shaken up the meta became after Maxie’s and Archie’s additions. Year 2 also saw some fun free additions like the first batch of BP units and the last three legendary adventure units, most of which prioritized utility and support over damage.

Here’s how each battle went and the sync grids used:

Vs. Karen: EX Gladion / Masked Royal / EX Hop – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011700072700&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=41111&g0=AAECAwQFBggLERQVFhkcIyUpKis&v1=011900077300&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDhAVGBklLi8&v2=024402088901&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFBxMaHB8iJCYpKy0wMzQ1

Unless I missed someone, the only Rock-type unit we got in Year 2 was Regirock. Thankfully Year 2 also introduced Gladion, which can act as a proxy for any types you’re lacking damage-dealers for. Hop completed his buffs while Masked Royal provided Defense debuffs.

Vs. Bruno: EX Diantha / EX Ghetsis / EX Kiawe – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=019501064600&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=4411&g0=AAECAwQFBgcIHB8iIyQlJigqLTAz&v1=015800028200&s1=4&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=21010101&t1=44411&g1=AAECAwQFBgkPGi4vMTM0&v2=014900010501&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFBggKDRAREhQVGBolJicp

I candied Diantha for Gauntlet and Recharging Strike makes her a lot easier to use in 3v3s. Kiawe hastened her buffs while Ghetsis helped with her Devastation multiplier. Getting that Propulsion proc at the end was nice but a Moonblast would’ve KOed.

Vs. Will: EX Sidney / Mallow / Event Bugsy – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=012400076300&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=13010602&t0=4111&g0=AAECAwQFBgcTFhgZGhwjJCcqLQ&v1=013500035900&s1=5&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=13010602&t1=4444&g1=AAECAwQFBggLDRAdICkrLC0u&v2=004500012300&s2=5&l2=140&r2=4&p2=0&a2=21010101&t2=44114&g2=AAECAwQFBgcJERMaHB4hIiQmKCot

Year 2 also saw the beginning of one-turn full-setup TMs, with Sidney being one of its first users. He stacks Stop Hitting Yourself with Mallow here, which turned out useful to keep Bugsy from being KOed by the sidemon.

Vs. Koga: EX Maxie / SS Leaf / EX Spring May – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=001710000300&s0=3&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=21010101&t0=4411&g0=AAECAwQFBgcICw4cHiMkJyorLA&v1=019200038300&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=18040501&t1=44444&g1=AAECAwQFBgkKDRARFBcaLi8&v2=012601042800&s2=2&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=17010201&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFBgcJERITFBYZHR8gISUmJykq

Year 2 also saw the introduction of the next move multipliers with N introducing SE Up Next. Maxie is another early user, and he puts it to good use here with his sync. SS Leaf provided Defense debuffs while Spring May tanked and activated the master passive.

Vs. Lance: EX Archie / Volkner / EX May – https://ng-pomatools.web.app/team?v0=011500040500&s0=5&l0=140&r0=5&p0=0&a0=18090102&t0=44414&g0=AAECAwQFExUdHyIjJScpKi0&v1=019300038200&s1=3&l1=140&r1=5&p1=0&a1=18040502&t1=44441&g1=AAECAwQFHiAhIyQoKywt&v2=012600026000&s2=5&l2=140&r2=5&p2=0&a2=17010201&t2=44444&g2=AAECAwQFBhMWGB0fICEiIyQl.

Can’t have a Maxie clear without an Archie clear, and thankfully his secondary type coverage is SE this week. Volkner provided terrain and flinches while May extended the rain and added to the master passive.

  1. Emmet was a rock pair that came out in Year 2, and if you wanted to include coverage you had Raihan's Rock Slide too

  2. The year 1 video is nearly 2 weeks before this one as of now. Nemona distracted you didn’t she 😉

  3. Man, crazy to think that Gladion and The Masked Royal came out in the same year of Masters. Really looking forwards to Anniversary, the datamine will likely be next week!
