Gf finally redownloaded Pokémon go had fun in GBL until she reached rank 10 she does not have the option to use any XL Pokémon and can’t even compete in the fantasy cup or masterleague. When great league was around every team she say had noctowl or medi
What can be done to buff fire?
I think swampert and greninja are actually pretty balanced due to how glassy they are, especially in great league
Just take ice punch away from medi.. they've taken a move away in the past.. kyogre uses to have dragon tail
Hydro cannon was already nerfed seasons ago. 90 damage to 80 damage
Nerfing surf would hurt kyogre too much in master league.. would leave palkia as the only good water type there for open
I finally built up Medacham. I really hope they don’t nerf him. I have not had a chance to use him.
As with a lot of other commenters, I do feel like for any real change to happen they need to alter the dynamics of the game.
You mentioned how the speed stat just isn’t used at all, I would love to see it affect how quickly your switch clock runs. Feels like that makes sense both from a gameplay perspective & from a logic perspective.
In general, I would love to see some creative approaches to levelling the playing field a bit for underused Pokémon.
I think the problem with medicham would be solved with more fairies in the meta. The reason there aren’t more fairies is because they get walled by steels, which happen to have a great combination of stats and moves at the top. I think we need more pressure on the steels to open things up.
I think the way to buff some of those types is to introduce new moves for the poisons/grass. That allows you to buff the type without making the regulars overpowered.
I don't know how they take away a move off of a pokemon if you already have it. The answer to Medicham may be just having remix cups as well.
You can't nerf surf. Jelli and Fini are 2 of the best safe swaps in UL. They corebreak a lot of teams. Charizard is already a pain in the ass WITH those pokemon. Nerfing surf would make Swampert even more broken as well.
Medicham is so overrated it aint that good !!!! Takes for ever to get to a move !!! I feel like defense Deoxys is way better
I never liked nerfs ;c
If you nerf surf you need to buff water fall because it’ll significantly hurt Kyogre & a lot of people are raiding Groudon & Kyogre right now. I don’t really believe in nerfs. I think you should buff the counters for the top tier Pokémon. I’d buff Trevenant specifically shadow claw & shadow ball. Also, if you starting today it takes roughly 50 raids minimum if you do all in person raids to get one legendary to level 50.
It would be cool if moves like arial ace, and x scissor were buffed. that would certainly help quite a few pokemon out of the dregs of their existance.
started playing 3 months ago and had a lot of success my last month of playing pvp after building a good team
just hit ace and wanna push for veteran next season.. kinda scared of big meta changes as i’ve had success in current meta
how drastic or not are these new season changes usually?
Just take Ice Punch away from Medicham. Give it another STAB move like Psychic Fangs, Close Combat, etc. It really is that simple.
id prefer they nerf registeel's charges as opposed to lock/on, regirock and regice are pretty balanced imo registeel is so far ahead of them because the steel monotyping is really good. nerfing lock on would kill the other regis they wouldnt even be viable imo
Honestly I'm just hoping most moves catch up to Counter. Its weird to see things like Metal Claw and Ember just straight up worse than Counter's Energy gains for no real reason. There are clearly moves that can be worse to help pokemon that would be broken otherwise. Like clearly Pound and Zen Headbutt have to stay terrible so Blissey or chansey never actually becomes godly, but I cant see any reason why metal claw just does 3 damage and 1 energy gain less then Counter. I do get that its hard to foresee what the smallest changes could do to the vastness of just how many pokemon we are dealing with, but all that ends up happening is just every pokemon wanting to know the three or 4 best moves in the game instead of there being a multitude of options.
Great league is terrible and will always be terrible. Ultra League should become the main league focus by Niantic after this season.
I think they need to add at least 1 to 5 abilities to weak pokemon and release new abilities per season. 🤔
You cannot nerf lock on it’s litterally 0 fast move pressure without making too many mons useless😂 you can’t very simple
Haven't seen this suggested in any videos or comments: What about nerfing base stats?
Pretty sure POGO copies the base stats of each Pokemon from the main series, so one could argue that changing the base stats would be a bad idea and create confusion.
But to that I say, the moves and mechanics are already different enough; what's the harm in changing stats if it means reaching balance?
First example that comes to mind would be nerfing Registeel's attack stat; the whole idea behind it (at least to me) was that it is a tank that can fight back, but doesn't hold any explosive power.
Same with Medicham; in the main games, I've always seen it used as a diverse attacker that can maneuver well in many situations, but was moderately glassy. In POGO the thing is a damn tank, so just nerf it's HP or defense, and call it a day.
Since it's rather tricky to nerf medicham, the other option seems to be buffing ghost and flying options. Both inadvertently buff Noctowl further, which in turn makes the steels better, and then makes medicham still not bad. The wheel keeps on turning XD
Also a fun anecdote: on the competitive side of the main series games, water has historically been one of the most over represented types, while grass and electric tend to be some of the worst typing with a few meta exceptions. So it's not just a PoGo thing, it's just inherent to how to game and mons have been designed over the years.
With Poison, Acid is the same timing but VASTLY inferior to Poison Jab. Why not make it a damage heavy move? 3 turn, Razor Leaf level damage? Some different options for moves

If Leafage were brought up to Counter level, Grass Pokemon could drop Grass charge moves and double up on coverage for Steels AND fliers
Honestly… I feel like the Pokemon game has WAY too many Pokemon to "nerf" moves instead of giving more play to other Pokemon. That way we start seeing more variety and not worry so much about nerfing things. But, thats just my thoughts.
I don't understand why hydro cannon, frenzy plant and blast burn are different, I would make all 3 a frenzy plant clone at 45 energy. Otherwise, make frenzy the 40 energy cost one and hydro the 50 energy one, and 45 for blast burn I guess.
Focus blast nerf would be a huge blow to Mewtwo in the master league
Buff the fast moves for bugs !
Give Medicham Psyshock instead of Psychic?
You mentioned nerfing Registeel… For GL, wait until Clodsire hits. Poison/Ground typing with incredible bulk (AT 94.2, D 119.4, ST 209, OV 2352 on a 4/15/14 IV spread). That's a wall if I've ever seen one, and adds another check to steels in general.
Fairy wind togekiss, please and thank you
Since nerfing moves for a specific pokemon will effect others that don't need nerfing, would it be possible for the energy gain of a charge move to be pokemon specific rather than the same energy gain across the board? If for example counter was nerfed on Medicham only to gain energy slower? Unsure how that would pan out but I think that could be a fairer way of nerfing stuff.
