  1. Jesus. it’s wild when you stop to think just *how much* of a success the wii really was

I enjoyed the Wii and was a big fan at the time but looking back I think it’s one of the worst systems. Perhaps an unpopular opinion.

  3. Its crazy that the Switch is only down 2% from this point in 2022 in the U.S., and only down like 5% globally.

Zelda and Pikmin really seem to have kicked hardware sales up a notch. Mario Wonder will probably have a similar effect.

While it’s great news for the Switch, it’s bad news for the consumers, Nintendo has a philosophy that they won’t release a new console if the old one is doing good in sales. Most consoles lifetimes last 5 years, its going on 7 years for the Switch, we need a new product.

The Wii/DS era will probably never be replicated by Nintendo (or anyone else). Console and handheld sales combined were insane

    > Switch lifetime sales now trail Xbox 360 by less than one million units

    :O

I’m surprised to see that. Does that mean that the Switch isn’t selling quite as well in Japan, or perhaps Europe? Does Playstation just **own** the Japanese video game market?

  8. Well, I bought four of them, and I still only have one Wii. You’re welcome, Nintendo.

Not that impressive when you consider that it’s also existed for longer than the Wii’s run lasted.

and this is why there will not be a switch 2 or pro or max or whatever.

No matter what anyone might have you believe, Nintendo continues to be the hardware sales king in the United States and it’s hard to argue against that when you see all the numbers.

Probably due to the price drop lately, it seems like you can get a brand-new switch for $300

I bought a switch in 2022 knowing it was nearing the end of it’s lifespan but realizing it was 3 portable ps3s. Not a big Nintendo first party games fan but to be able to play PS3/PS4 games with super fast load times on my couch or anywhere is well worth it. Skyrim, Witcher 3, rdr bangers
