Whether you’re playing with up to three friends locally, remotely with friends in an online room or casually interacting with players from all over the world, it’s great to share the fun of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with others!

They do all this but theres no straight online co-op mode lmfao fucks sake nintendo
The online looks SOOOO cool! I thought maybe it was just player shadow save data but it’s real time? Amazing I can’t wait 🙂
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think I prefer this to the online play of 3D World and Mario Maker. The online play in those games was fun but it was personally more frustrating for me and friends since communicating from a distance was more cumbersome not to mention the fact that lag was constant. I much prefer local play.
But this seems like a good balanced form of Online, that not only prevents lag for yourself but makes it less cumbersome to play with friends online as well.
No pun intended, but I wonder if this game will combat trolls easier than one of the previous 2D Mario online game. I forget which one. People were disconnecting and messing up placements in levels or something? Anyone recall that?
Lack of actual online co-op makes this a no-buy from me. The main reason I’d buy this is to play with a handful of people, all of which live in different states than I do. Ghost mode where I kind of sort of get to see their character play at the same time I do doesn’t do it for me at all.
Considering how poorly the online co-op multiplayer was in Super Mario Maker 2, I’m not surprised to see them doing something different with the online multiplayer in this.
Seems alright, better than nothing I say.
At least we got a race to the finish mode. That seems pretty fun.
These extra modes are nice, but there isn’t any way to just play through the campaign with friends online? I guess they probably didn’t want a repeat of the bad online multiplayer in Mario Maker 2, but the option would have been really nice, especially since they included it in 3D World, even if that online wasn’t perfect either.
Mario wonder having Dark Souls online like multiplayer was not on my bingo card.
Even in a ‘totally different’ kingdom we have: water world, fire world, forest world, rock world and even the underground area.
I am so sick of these same tired archetypes being repeated as nauseam. At least Odyssey had some original settings :/
Matchmaking?
This is just conjecture, but maybe Mario 35 was just built as a proof of concept for the online for this game. It’s not that different from what we’re seeing here.
