I’m so excited for this! Especially we are getting the Wii game that never came to North America.

Excited for this. I never played the DS original back then, but always wanted to. It’s really cool that Nintendo is bundling it with the second game that never got released over here.

  3. I’m buying 10 copies j/k, but it’s perfect.

Is this game worth it? It’s going to be $60 for the both. It looks interesting.

Oh, I didn’t know it was getting a physical. Sick. I’m not ready to pay $60 for this but I do see myself picking it up at some point

How depressing is this game? Looks fun, but don’t want to play if it’s too dark

As someone who’s been a consistent fan of this game since 2005 as my first DS game and still play it every other year or so, I do have concerns about art direction.

The original had sharp lines and deep, black shadows. The sequel had a brighter tone but with painterly backgrounds and colored outlines. The proportions of characters’ faces in both were more realistic but accentuated in an anime style.

This remake seems to have blown out color and really leaning into a homogenized “uwu” anime style which really does NOT fit Ashley. It’s mostly the bigger eyes, blush marks, and especially here on the cover art she has so much make up and it looks like common AI art styles.

I’m super excited to play these games again, but I feel like a lot of the aesthetic I fell in love with is gone and the puzzles seem to be overhauled as well. One the plus side, it’s entirely fresh again. On the down side, it’s not why I loved Trace Memory (Another Code.)

They’re also likely to use the European translation since it’s more accurate to the Japanese and I prefer the NA translation for its snappier dialogue and how they gave Ashley a bit more attitude which was built upon in the sequel. Plus the “Trace System” made for tracking down forgotten memories by tracing them in both senses of the word (tracking, outlining) sounds better than the “Another System” in English (imo.)

Quibbles, gripes, yeah. I just want what will be 90% of players first time with this series to be good.
