I uh… Might need some more German -> English translations before I understand the relevant text in the images.
But given that it’s Niantic we’re talking about, I 100% believe the incompetency you’ve attributed to them.

So I submitted these 2 history based routes today. A short and a long walk teaching trainers about the imporatnt and hundreds of years long history of this village.
Long one on the left got rejected with: “Private property”
“On this route we pass listed half-timbered houses, some of which have existed since 1600, memorial plaques and monuments that remenber the two world wars and their atrocities.”
Short on the right with: “Inaccessible Areas”
“We pass memorial plaques, inscriptions that tell of the great fire of 1853, monuments and stumbling stoones, that remind us of the world wars and atrocities, and listed buildings such as the former community center and school building.”
They were pretty much rejected instantly. Within minutes or even seconds.
And this while Niantics rules specifically suggest history based routes as a good example.
There can’t have been an actualy employee reviewing them, that would have been a way too short timeframe.
I pressume they use bots and these throw false positives, affecting other routes nearby as well at worst, since I once suggested a route which also got rejected almost instantly and got another route removed nearby at the same time.
These 2 would have been the only routes with some kinda worth around here. All others someone else and I created mainly are low quality just-walk-around-in-the-fields style routes with hardly any kind of worth.
So what do they want? Quality or garbage? I don’t get it…
**Edit 1.1:** I dumped a complain in the help chat. Don’t expect more than “thx 4 feedback, bye”
**Edit 1.2:** Kinda like that the answer. They write they can not tell me why it has been rejected but know people want that feature and thank for the feedback.
**Edit 2.1:** Owenlars suggested doing that to avoid the AI being stupid. I can agree that Wayspot titles/descriptions found in routes ones indeed trigger acceptance: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/16l8itj/not_users_but_niantic_themselves_causing/k127eue/
**Edit 2.2:** Can confirm it works in most of all cases. Got 3 Routes ingame today instantly. One was rejected again, guess I wanted to have too much quality again or it banned me from that path or I hit other triggers…

Nothing new. The same thing happens with Pokestop appeals. They reject good nominations and sometimes they even let coal through even tho everyone rejected it for an obvious reason.
Some of my routes also got rejected for going through things that they didn’t.

It’s real hard to read white words on a white pic. Just fyi

There are so many issues with routes rn, we really need Wayfarer integration or something like that for them
Heisenberg_235
I submitted one along a beach front the other day. Was rejected within 6 hours for “crossing private property” which was inaccurate. Submitted it again and 12 days later it’s still pending.
ThePharotekton
I had a route in a local park around a pond (with 6 waypoints along it) rejected for being “an unsafe area.”
Now the Canada Geese that post up there can be aggressive. But seriously, how could someone see 6 spinners and two gyms in the same .25 mile area and see it as unsafe?
The people reviewing this stuff are idiots.
jderm1
Why would anyone go to all this effort to create a route? Every thread I see like this it seems like you’re just doing free labour for Niantic and being punished for wasting your time
kenkickr-790420
I had a route denied because it was to dangerous. It was a walk from the park in our little town of maybe 1000 people down to a church in same town. Sure there are no sidewalks for part of the walk but come on. Many people in town walk the same route and not every town in America is like San Francisco. Still waiting on two other routes to be approved/denied from when routes were released.

After my last 2 rejections I’m completely convinced they are just trying to clear the queue with interns who aren’t even doing the job. My last one was “Dangerous or unsafe area” and coincidentally I got it while I was walking with my 3 year old on that very route at the time when I got it. The second has about 20-25 stops on it and was rejected for “Private residential property” – and goes from a park to our historical town hall. If you looked at a map of my small city, its extraordinarily obvious that these were bogus rejections.
Someone else said it – there’s nothing about routes that the effort is worth this much frustration and lack of effort on Niantic’s part.
mirebelyk
I’ve had routes rejected for being unsafe – for people unfamiliar with the area i can understand looking at a map and thinking I’m walking on a road but it’s a closed road that’s now a public trail beside the river with no vehicles allowed in. I’ve resubmitted it since there’s no appeal process and I really think it’s a good route in my local area.
penemuel13
What really gets me about all these rejections for false “unsafe routes” is that *their own map* doesn’t show train tracks or stairs which can both be unsafe for people walking while trying to find that dang tiny Zygarde cell…
Owenlars2
so i primarily walk int he parking lot of my work office. i initially set up a loop following the walkign path i’ve been using for about 3 years, but after over 30 completions and no zygarde cells, I began breaking up the loop into paths that end 1 stop early. because each path only gives 1 cell per day, and because i see no reason not to, i’ve now made about 7 paths that all follow the same loop, but are split up to increase the chances of seeing cells and also gettign several rewards for completing the paths.
However, I quickly found that the most difficult part of setting up these paths is naming them and putting in information abotu them. But I figures something out. If you put in “[stop name 1] to [stop name 2]” with the description “[parking lot] path between [stop 1] and [stop 2]” then the ai seems to approve the route in seconds. it’s happend so fast that I’ve made routes, and then gone to the bathroom, and then been able to get my first use of the route i just made.
edit- meant to mention that you don’t need the full stop name, jsut a keyword or two. i give an example in a later post.
hope that might help, and good luck!
cocobabar
Yep not understanding this either. I had 2 routes rejected after review both being dangerous. Both were in local parks on paths maintained by the town park district. Doesn’t make any sense. Sad implementation once again.
paper_snow
I have the opposite problem. They drew a path from a nearby walking trail onto my lawn and won’t remove it.
Birphon
yeah friend had a “dangerous area” while it goes through a public park/walk with historic sites where pokestops and gyms are located… the most dangerous part would be someone climbing over the railing and diving into a pond lmao
precipiceblades
I have now had 3 routes pending since routes were a thing. 1 was at the park near the beach, the other was for the train station to the market and another was around my neighbourhood.
Pending since forever yet i see low effort routes approved like water. There was even 1 route that just popped up that was basically 1 bus stop to the other. Another was just circling around the supermarket and another was some weird turns at a pokestop to hit 500m.
I swear niantic put up routes to reward trash plays instead.
Then-Mind-1103
The first route I submitted from about a month ago had one of their “descriptive” and more cutesy names and still has not been approved. It was around a park. Meanwhile, my two with super short names — one with rampant GPS drift — called “snack run” and “X Mall” were approved immediately. I’m really not sure what they want anymore
SredniEel
I’ve given up on routes. I created four routes in my neighborhood at the beginning of august and none of them have been approved.
Shalafi_Althalus
I had two in my last neighborhood rejected even though they followed the sidewalks between landmarks.
I’ve also had approved routes get subsequently rejected weeks later. I guess other players repeated them? They also followed sidewalks and crosswalks.
It’s hard to be motivated to make routes when they get rejected so quickly.
Syrcrys
Stop submitting.
No point in wasting time over a function that’s eventually going to benefit Niantic more than you.
foladar
Route in a public park got denied for “unsafe” after 7 weeks, just stop submitting imo
SeniorSpaz87
That sucks. I wonder – can routes (slightly) overlap? Our little scenic downtown would be a perfect 750m-1km route loop, but theres already a route that takes up a small portion of it. Its a really stupid route; it encompasses the final 1/2 block of the loop, dips down a side alley, then goes through a back alley/employee parking area road with no sidewalks. So you spend 1/2 of it walking up/down the two side alleys, then a quarter on main street, then a quarter weaving between the behind-the-building trash cans walking in the road, vs a loop of all the local shops and restaurants, under tree shade on a 20′ wide walking pathway. I was going to try to submit it tomorrow, but wont bother if routes can have 0 overlap.
Shame-Greedy
Multiple routes made in parks being rejected for “inaccessible area.” Pretty ridiculous.
JULTAR
Had a local abuse the report feature to get a route removed and then resubmitted it
Reported it under “abuse” to support but they basically did nothing
Pity

Same here too. My short hiking route was taken down four days ago for “Dangerous or unsafe area”. It was approved in late July and had 30+ community trips on it.
Fluffy-Trade-2682
I had a route approved in July at a nice sea promenade in Carbourg, France. Some hundred people walked the route. Three days ago it was rejected because of non reachable areas…
Kardish
I am with you. I had a route that was rejected due to inaccessible areas after about 1 1/2 months after it was published. I only noticed this because players wrote to me about why I deleted the route.
The route goes completely through a pedestrian zone.
There is nothing from Niantic support about this except references to the FAQ.
I resubmitted the route 3 days later. And it was re-published within 24 hours.
Adriano90pl
Same here. My route was accepted and was in game for like a month and a half and then they got rejected for unsafe area… It was on Warsaw old town and all by walking on sidewalk. That’s crazy
CaptainTilted
Wish niantic didn’t put a special research locked behind this route feature. No routes here and nothing gets approved.
