If you’re wondering why I straight up uninstalled this game, a huge part of it was that it’s impossible to do anything if you don’t live in a big city. They hate rural areas.
Poke genie and remote raid passes
Use campfire to check for raids before you go anywhere. Randomly going to gyms and complaining there is no raids isn’t going to help you
Task to do 60 raids and no noticeable change in raid frequencies. I only do 1 and 3 star non-shadow raids. I usually try to do one or two on my way to work. I drive past 37 gyms on my way to work and frequently do not see any raids that I can stop and solo. I spent two hours one day driving around to all of the multi-gym areas here. In those two hours, I managed to do 3 raids. I did put 57 miles on my car though.
Download campfire and use it to scout raids before you start driving around
This is by design, you are supposed to buy remote raidpasses every day. Why wont you think of the niantic shareholders???

I have similar issues. Ok at work there are 3 I pass on a lunchtime walk. Plus if I go to the shop I’m near one of them again. But timings need to be right
There is one gym on the way to work where I can safely stop. I use campfire for it but it’s never got a raid when I pass.
Niantic hates us folks that don’t live near 1600 stops in a big, stupid cluster. And they’ve never worked on it. Lol I have to drive to get to a stop from where I live. None within a reasonable walking distance. The raid task is my lowest one and I joke with my partner that we won’t finish it. Lol
Could the mods just put a big ass banner up top that says Niantic doesn’t care and will never care about rural players? Either give up or move away from your podunk town.

I’m so mad too, I love surfing, but there is nowhere near my house. It’s outrageous that I cans go surfing in rural Nebraska. So unfair. /s
I just can not comprehend why rural players are constantly crying about not being able to play a game that’s about community and urban exploration.
Or they are only 3* or 5* shadows

POV: you don’t use campfire or pokegenie or a second/third account or any other option besides “driving to the best spot IN TOWN”. Get to level 37 and nominate stops in your town, might get lucky with a gym or two and at least you’ll have local 1/2/3 star options you can easily beat by yourself or with your alt accounts helping. 4/5 stars you’ll need to use an above app to make friends or host random raid parties. It’s not impossible it’s not even hard it just takes some effort, if you care that much.
I use the Go Raid Party app and it works really well if you need to raid. Campfire is also good to look for people to raid with.
Brother just go somewhere for the day on the weekend and do a bunch of raids. My buddy and I got the bus into the city last weekend to chill and knocked out 10 raids. Got a shiny Genesect from it too.

Most of these comments are harsh towards rural players. I guess they are annoyed by the repetitive complaints. Nobody will care about something until it’s their turn to experience it.
I live in an area where there are 2 gyms and 4-5 stops visible in the app all of which requires me to walk some walkable distance. I don’t do that because I’m lazy and I honestly don’t want to do all that just for a freaking game. And even if I go to gyms there are 0 local players to raid with.
I have given up on this raid task and a 2nd masterball right from the beginning.
But it’s okay that we can’t very easily get a 2nd masterball. What would you use it for anyways? Since most people who can’t do raids have low chance of encountering hundo raid boss (specifically legendaries) that often.
If you encounter one by luck just use the first masterball from special research.
And for galarian birds I’ll rely on luck and throw a golden razz and whatever ball I have. No need to waste masterball on something which you have a better chance of encountering than a hundo legendary.
I just hope that this game doesn’t get more unplayable for rural players.
Look I get that rural players are at a disadvantage but all the players complaining that “they don’t care about us” straight up doesn’t make sense. It’s like a person with a shitty setup complaining about a game’s poor performance and asking the devs to adjust the game to their favour. Like at some point you gotta swallow the harsh pill that the game is not for you but if you still wanna play, you’ve got to adjust or stop playing.
