Beyond the Hype. I created this series as there is a lot of click bait and false impressions of pokemon and I want to give you a real in depth analysis of whether a pokemon is worth spending dust and candies on.

Pokemon GO has just announced the Adventures Abound season featuring the pokemon found in the Paldea Region. This season of GO Battle League features a significant move updates includes nerfs, buffs, and new moves. In total it came with over 150 move updates.

With all these move updates, this video will focus on pokemon that received a significant buff for this upcoming season of GO Battle League either through moves specifically being buffed or access to new moves.

This week it is psychic cup and Master League. Psychic Cup is a 1500cp (Great League) that only allows psychic pokemon. Master League is an open league that allows XL pokemon and legendary pokemon.

One of the questions I often get on videos is whether running a shadow vs. non shadow pokemon matters. Well here is the answer. In some cases there is a difference, in others it just depends what pokemon you are trying to beat.

  1. Shadow matters when you can two shot opponents instead of using three moves. And a bit the function of the pokemon in the game. Shadows will never have the role of third shield or tank. They are the attacker in the team.

  2. shadow drapion is better at 2 shields. because you should have 1 attack fast attack lead

  3. Really helpful series.
Worth noting that most trainers (myself included) probably won't have top 10 ranks of the shadow versions meaning that we're sacrificing further bulk on top of the stipulated shadow bonus. Depending on the rank we do end up building, we're likely to lose/win certain matchups that sims just won't show.

EDIT: Also, I'm sure you just forgot but we're all of us waiting for an update to this video where you analyze the true goat Shadow Vic!

  4. I use shadows to reach rank 20, then I switch to non-shadows. If I find myself losing in my bracket, I switch to use a shadow in the back with two shield.

  5. Hey Dan, if you are looking for some content suggestions, maybe you could to a tutorial series on how you use PVPoke to do your analysis and what all the things mean,

  6. I've been recently building a shadow a-nine, a shadow swampert and a shadow quagsire and now you come and tell me they don't matter 😀

  7. Was never really impress with Shadow Mons. I've also was started to build them but never really finish. Only Shadow I've ever use is Shadow Granbull and Shadow Gardevoir…

  8. i have a shadow quag but the IVs are mid (5/11/15). that along w the shadow debuff make its kinda mid for me. the extra ground type dmg where its needed is nice but I can definitely feel a clear, heavy loss in bulk in comparison to normal quag

  9. Fast move damage mons like Dragonite and Machamp are significantly better from my experience as shadow versions. You are almost always using shields in the same scenarios for them in shadow vs non shadow form.

  10. Its always such a dilemma.. especially for pokemon where xl candy is needed.. my general rule of thumb is: unless one version has significantly better matchups than the other, just go with whatever has the better pvp stats in your bag

  11. Maybe I missed it but I’d like to know your opinion on building return Sableye vs power gem and if it’s worth the waiting for the return version. Sableye is obviously super xl intensive so it makes sense to wait on the right shadow/purified one but as a newer player, I can’t get one unless they enter the shadow rotation. Am I still better off waiting?

  12. Was hoping to see Meganium make the list. Shadow Meg seems to take a lot of people by surprise.

  13. heads up, i didn’t check if it makes a difference but you forgot to maximize ivs on shadows for sandslash and abomasnow

  14. l started playing in june and didn’t know anything about team rocket events.. anyone know anything about the next one? i have so many shadow i need to TM frustration off lol

  15. Someone please tell me, should I invest in a hundo Sableye? I don't have enough XL candies to build a good one.

  16. FYI shadow dragonair outperforms the nonshadow in basically every shield scenario but the 1v1. For example he picks up 6 wins in the 2v2.

  17. Great video. FYI I think it’s worth mentioning that

    1. Shadows that put out lots of fast move damage (machamp, dragonair, etc) are almost always much better as shadow if they have 2 shields or shield advantage.

    2. Mons that run a fast move like lick (famously Snorlax) become better because often their licks go from 2dmg to 3dmg (50% more) because the game won’t let you do 2.4dmg.
