Trombone Champ Latency Ruins the Game

I’ve heard this is an issue on PC too, but I have no experience with that version. On the switch version there is a significant delay between pressing the button and the toot of the trombone. You pretty much have to decide between timing it correctly and it sounding wrong, or it sounding right but getting the “correct” timing wrong. This is not how a rhythm game should be designed, and it ruins the game for me as someone who wants to play it as a rhythm game.

This happens in both tabletop and in docked, and I’ve found that no latency setting fixes it completely. Really hope they patch and fix this.

edit: I want to make clear that I don’t think there’s any actual input lag, the button responds correctly when I press it. It’s the actual sound of the trombone foot that’s delayed, causing the trombone part to sound desynced from the rest of the music if you play it “correctly”.

edit 2: Here’s a link to a Steam thread of the issue on PC in the past where a dev acknowledges the issue: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1059990/discussions/0/3718314778567772751/

    That stinks honestly.

    I hope they fix that.

Was really looking forward to picking this one up

There’s no latency I’m aware of in the PC version. Every press of the button is instant to the frame/bear you press it. I can’t havk the tougher songs in the game yet because I need to warm up my big trombone more but that’s how all thythm games are.

Shame the Switch port is botched like that. There’s no excuse for such a low (graphically) intensity game having any input lag.

Damn I thought it was a standard on Rythm games to have an audio visual calibration

  5. It’s meant to sound bad even when you hit the notes perfect…just part of the charm.

The switch is horrible for input lag. Any kind of fighter or rhythm game becomes unplayable at any level beyond beginner.
