Pokemon Go

Evolving makes it…. weaker?

This feels like it should not be the case… I’m so confused

Some Pokémon lose cp when evolving because of how stats are calculated. Take weedle, caterpie, trapinch, and scatterbug. Their attack stats are comparatively higher than their evolutions’, resulting in a loss of Cp.

Think of it as a cocoon like state. A cocoon can’t do nearly as much as it’s larval state can but once it’s out of that cocoon state it can do much more than the larval state.

In the main games Trapinch has 100 base attack and Vibrava only 70 so I’m sure that comes into play here
