  1. I’ve had 2 hours with Wonder and it’s already edging its way into my top 3 2D Marios.

As someone who only played 2D Mario once on DS when I was little I had to try it and I think it’s totally worth it. It’s only the second game I bought on release, after TotK

I haven’t played much yet due to work but what I have done so far has been great. Looks like this game will be super fun throughout!

I played the second level “Piranha Plants on Parade” and I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve smiled that big. This game is pure joy.

Honestly top 3 for me right up with Mario 3 and world. Incredible effort by Nintendo. Looking forward to RPG next month as well!

Great news. World is my all time favorite but I could never get into NSMBU. Glad the controls have a similar feel to World.

If this game is up there with Mario 3 and Mario World I am very excited.

Me and my kids have just bought this and I must say it brought the same joy as the smb3 did on the snes all those years ago, fantastic game 🤩

  9. I am so happy that Nintendo went with removing stage timers in this game. Some of the Wonder sequences reward thorough exploration and it would suck if you’re put up against as timer. It was a good idea to have no timers.

These franchises won’t go on sale anytime soon so it’s worth just going full price right?

I finished it, it’s easily one the best 2D Mario’s imo.

Just behind Yoshi’s island, if that counts as a Mario.

  12. For anyone playing this that can chime in, how is co-op and what is the difficulty? I want to play with my 5 year old. We tend to play other mario games, hes not the best at video games but loves to play with me. Can first player carry and second player tag along?

I played Mario U Deluxe for the first time on the build-up to release and was worried it would make me feel burnt out on 2d mario before Wonder came out. There was no need to worry at all. It is so much better than Mario U in every way so far. It controls loads better, the levels and their wonder flowers constantly put a smile on my face. It’s been a great game so far!

Oh man this game got me …I never imagined that Mario game could make emotional but god damn. This game unlocked some very old memories and feelings I got when playing Mario World as A Kid. I cant’t help but to smile after playing this for 2h. Also the innovation with music, visuals, level ideas ect are just something else. It isnt just trying to pull some nostalgia strings like all other newer 2D marios and every level seems to have new ideas.
Everyone with Switch should play this. Cant believe Nintendo is releasing two of it’s biggest bangers for decades in same year.

I went to buy this for my 5 year old daughter. Her Birthday is Monday. She’s super excited for it. It was sold out in a bunch of places. I finally snatched the last copy at a near by Best Buy. I didn’t think people were buying physical copies that much anymore. Guess I was wrong. They we’re also all sold out of Spider man 2.

  16. MaddestChadLad

Nintendo has done it yet again. This will be a big christmas item, glad i already got my copy

A few levels in and very fun. All digital here but I do have two switches and one of them my daughter uses so really buying 1 game for two people. I personally never resell games anyway so works for me.

My fiance and I are a few levels in and while everything looks perfect, is there a reason gold coins have a jitter in their animation? It’s like the spinning is missing some frames.

  19. AndrewJR25

is it just me or was jump on the super Mario bros deluxe the A button and on here its B? I switched it but now I cant remember haha

  20. zetcetera

This game is pure distilled delight. Nintendo reminding us yet again this year that they are the fucking masters of this video game shit

  21. Hallolusion

Only 3 levels in but I’ve been enjoying it, apart from the beautiful art style, I wasn’t totally sold on the level design from the first level but once the piranha plants started serenading me in the second level I was all in. The wonder flower is such a great mechanic. Also them finally getting rid of the stupid ass course timer is a godsend and probably my favourite thing about this game so far. Actually being able to take my time and actually enjoy the course without worrying about timing out and dying was a waaaaaaay overdue change.

for games like this the hardware is fine but i really wished it was more powerful when playing zelda, docked that game has a fuck ton of fps drops

  23. throwaway872023

I can’t believe how good this game is. Are all the 2.5 d mario games like this? I played up to world as a kid and then skipped to sunshine and then never played another mario game until 3d world. I thought 3d world was just ok. This is giving me the same feelings of awe I got from super mario world. I feel like a kid again playing this it just releases the purest kind of joy for me.

  24. It’s a boatload of fun and creativity. Truly no predicting what you’ll encounter around the next corner. It strikes the right balance of rewarding both precise platforming and rambling exploration. And man, does it make the Switch’s hardware *sing*. This might be a better looking game than either of the Switch Zeldas. I’m trying to play it in smaller chunks so I can savor it for longer.

  25. ChoppyChug

It’s better than we all deserve.

Close to 40 fucking years of producing excellence and surprises in the same format.

This game was brought to us by artists that give a damn.

I’ll be here for every Mario game until I draw my dying breath
