During the Q&A part of the latest fiscal report, Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa addressed the latest rumors. In the Japanese Publication Mainichi he not only denied the existence of the Switch 2 but stated that “the Rumors are circulating mainly on the Internet as if they were public information, but they are inaccurate.” He cited reports that Nintendo provided explanations about next-generation consoles to specific software makers in 2022 (activision rumors) and that Nintendo demonstrated a new model at an overseas event in summer 2023, denying them as “untrue.”.

If people knew a new console would come out in the near future (let’s say 2026), they’d probably be a lot less likely to buy new games, controllers, and accessories for their existing consoles in 2024 and 2025

If this is Switch’s last holiday season there’s no way they would undermine that by making an announcement.

Obviously he would say that, because if nintendo outright confirmed that a new console exists/is in development, it would pretty much kill any current/future hype/desire to get the current switch. And considering that the thing has sold over 132 million units and is on track to potentially outsell ps2 and ds, there’s no way nintendo wants something like that to happen.

Honestly, I’d be okay if they wait a while before announcing anything. My backlog is out of control!
(Even if it’s backwards compatible, I’d just want to buy and play the new games)

Theres no way the next switch wont be using DLSS or upscaling, They are partnered with Nvidia so of course they are going to take advantage of DLSS to boost performance and resolution. It makes total sense for a handheld. I just hope that they use an OLED screen in the switch 2, the rumor of them going back to an LCD is not appealing at all. Asking me to give up the jaw dropping beautiful OLED screen on my switch is going to nearly be a deal-breaker. If you hold an OG switch next to the OLED switch youll know exactly why its going to be impossible for someone to go back.
