    Famitsu gave Final Fantasy 16 a 39/40.

    For reference, that’s higher than 7, 8 and 9.

    Famitsu is a joke nowadays.

Probably I’ll let my heart keep the memories of my first experience with Mario RPG some 25 years ago. I’ll pass on this.

I wasn’t expecting much. It’s a JRPG-style Mario remaster from like 30 years ago – we know the plot and how it plays. There are much better titles in the genre, and it’s kind of weird that people are shilling this hard for it. I’m expecting lukewarm reviews because it’s a mediocre game.

  6. lilidarkwind

I’m sorry, but the last time Famitsu was actually relevant was when it gave Nintendogs a perfect 40/40.

  7. DragapultOnSpeed

This sub is toxic… you guys take reviews way too seriously

    Lmao these comments.
One magazine that are infamous for giving strange scores most of the time and people are full “i knew was mediocre and just a cash grab”. Apparently 8 and 10 means is trash now.

In before no one gives a shit about this thread because the other reviews have been released.

We just went through this with Famitsu and Mario Wonder.

  10. Wonder got 36/40, RPG getting 34/40 is fine.

Who really cares? Don’t think a Famitsu score is going to ever factor into anybody’s decision to buy a remake of a 27 year old classic.

This is the type of game where reviews won’t matter unless they’re absolutely terrible and an 8.5/10 average is perfectly fine for a faithful remake.

  11. I disregarded Famitsu’s opinion ever since they gave Nintendogs a perfect score

  12. Berkoudieu

    It’s a 20+ years old game.
It’s almost exactly the same game, with updated graphics and some improved mechanics.

Of course it’s showing its age. I’ve never played the SNES version and the remaster gives me mixed feeling. I’m halfway through the game and I don’t really like it tbh, but that’s probably because I don’t have the nostalgia effect.

you know a sub is toxic when there are a bunch of locked comments lol

I understand why some are concerned by the 34/40 (8.5) from Famitsu. They are usually very generous with their reviews and this remake should have easily been a 9.5-10 by their standards of reviewing. It makes you wonder what issues the game had that most of us were not anticipating. I’m assuming it’s either too easy or performance problems since the OG was a masterpiece..

  15. WastedMoogle

I finished it. It was very solid and is very faithful to the OG. No complaints other than some enemies randomly hit like an absolute truck and because it’s an old SE game, there’s a lot of very hidden items.

  16. thank you for telling me what to think famitsu daddy~~~

  17. ChiltonGains

What’s the point of a review score if you can’t read the review?

  18. retroanduwu24

the original game got a 32/40 back in the other day so idk why anyone is upset here

  19. Stray… the brain dead hold your hand adventure game got a higher score than one of the most beloved games of all time.

  20. There are a lot of good reviews from the 90s.
