Don’t sleep on this moment.
Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyessy are the equivalent of OoT and SM64’s hype and legacy.
In fact that games just got dunked aside. We’ll definitely be looking back at this 10 years from now.

It isn’t actually the best selling Zelda game in Japan though.
@GameDataLibrary maintains a [database](https://sites.google.com/site/gamedatalibrary/game-search) of sales figures from Dengeki, and both the original Zelda, and Zelda II are over 1.6 million. Those two games are conspicuously absent from the resetera thread.

This seems so crazy to me because I have to force myself to play both BOTW and Odessy while I could pick up OoT and M64 and play for pretty much ever without getting bored.

They lump the Switch and Wii U versions of BoTW together but not N64 and 3DS versions of OoT. OoT is still ahead by a lot if you do.

BotW was great and all, and I know Nintendo wants to keep doing open world stuff, but I hope we get more traditional Zeldas in the future anyways
Hold_my_Dirk
I enjoyed BoTW but I still maintain that it is nowhere near the best Zelda game. If it didn’t have a Zelda world skin then people wouldn’t think nearly as high of it.

The passing of the torch. Now BotW is the golden standard for future Zelda games, and possibly all 3D adventure games to come, the way OoT was. What a time to be alive

All these people saying, “Good game, but a bad Zelda game.”
And here I am, having finished 9 Zelda games (in my order, OoT, SS, LA, MC, LoZ1, ALttP, ALBW, WW, BOTW), where Breath of the Wild is hands down my favorite in the series. And as someone who considers the original LoZ for NES still one of my favorites, it is everything I’ve wanted out of Zelda for years.

This is great. I love and enjoy the formula of OoT more, but you can’t sneeze at the effort and grandness of BotW. It may not be my favorite Zelda for various reasons, but it is a fantastic game.

I was the biggest change to the looks and the formula since ocarina so it makes sense. I personaly think that Botw isnt that good of a zelda game, but to see the amount of people that enjoy the game and how popular it got makes me really happy.
There was a lot of unused potencial in botw and a lot of room for improvement, I’m really looking foward to the future of the series.

Ive heard that the japanese aren’t as obsessed with zelda as the west is. Can someone confirm that cuz idk where i heard that

Man I need to get a switch. I stopped playing Nintendo games like 8 years ago, now I really at least want to play Breath of The Wild.

With that being said, I’d love a modern remaster of Zelda OOT and MM for the Switch.

Ocarina of time will always be the GOAT!!!!!!!

I wish I was better at it. I gave up because I could not get used to the parry timing for reflecting blasts back… 🙁 I could do it at a certain distance but anything closer or further than it I’d screw up due to poor timing/reaction speed.

I’m almost a little sad to hear that, even if it’s great news for Nintendo. BOTW was such a different game from what Zelda used to be, and it feels as if the old traditions are going to be left behind in light of BOTW’s massive success. I loved BOTW but I love OOT even more, and I hope the old style of Zelda doesn’t die out in people’s minds just because of BOTW’s success.
