Just shows how starved people are for Harry Potter content. For one of the biggest multimedia franchises, its gaming sector has been quite one dimensional in the last two decades. HL might shake those execs awake and inspire them to do more and better stuff.

Anedcotally, the game is #5 and #6 on eshop all games charts, so combined it may be even close to #2, so it appears to have been worth WB to port this.

So many missing the point that the switch is geared towards younglings who don’t care as much about graphical fidelity and have the imagination to fill in a few missing textures. IMO Howard’s Legacy looks cool on Switch, it’s like a PS3 throwback.

And people were wondering why even port it to Switch if they downgrade it that much.

I watched a comparison video of the graphics and what they had to do in order to make it work on the Switch. And, yes, the other platforms look better. But, if I have a Switch and want to play the game, that’s what I’m going to buy. I’m not going to get another system to play a slightly better version. Sure, some people have multiple gaming systems and, if you do, it makes sense to get a different version. But if all you have is a Switch, and all you want to have is a Switch, I don’t care if other versions are better. If I only have a Switch, it’s pretty obvious that graphics is not my main requirement when it comes to games. I feel like this is the piece all the people talking about how much worse the graphics are on the Switch are not getting. The people who care already have other systems. The rest just want to play the game and don’t care.

I believe it. That Venn diagram of people excited for the game and people who only have a Switch probably has massive crossover

Not a massive surprise then why they pushed on with porting it by any means.

I think they’ve done a pretty decent job with it considering just how much they had to pare back the visuals. Ultimately how it plays matters most and performance seems generally decent throughout. No doubt it’ll get some special edition release down the line on Switch 2 that’ll improve presentation further.

How the fuck does that game play and look on the Switch? Did they make it look like a ps2 game?

People love to waste money on utter rubbish.

140 million people have a Switch. 50 million have a PS5. That’s 90 million people who can’t play it on the PS5. Of those 90 million, maybe 50% could play it on another device. That still leaves a market of 45 million. Of course it’s going to sell well, even if it “looks like it does”.

Seems like a great game. I just hope it doesn’t play terribly on Switch. I haven’t played the other versions so hopefully I won’t notice anything.

*EDIT: I don’t mind much for karma, but what’s with the downvote to death on this? I don’t think I said anything offensive or off topic unless I’m missing something

I only have a switch and was interested in playing it. I don’t care about graphics, good visuals are nice but it’s not a main reason I’d buy or not buy a video game. I am a very casual gamer but I can also see I’m not alone ha

  13. Bought the Switch version and I can’t wait to play it once I’m done with Tales of Symphonia.

Wow, definitely worth the port it seems.

Second biggest Opening for Hogwarts Legacy in the UK. That is amazing! Third party games do sell extremely well on Switch when a proper port is developed.

I got it on Switch (my only console) and played several hours and so far the only real gripe is load times and having to load into areas other versions are all open world (like every shop in Hogsmeade). I expected the lower graphics, and it’s not a deal breaker, but I could see why some might pick it up on another console if you have the option. Glad it’s gotten some success so far.

I wonder how many of those may refund because of undesirable performance.

So I guess with this it’s in the bag for being the highest selling game of 2023, yeah? I was surprised to hear that TotK didn’t even beat it when Nintendo released the official sales numbers recently, but now HL is selling even more.

  19. phantomzero

Runs just as well on the Switch as on PC!

This makes the blue haired college freaks angry and I’m glad for it.

  21. acewing905

This is pretty massive for a game that has been out on other platforms for many months
I guess they were quite right in doing this for Switch despite the technical constraints

  22. CraigRedfield

As much as I would like to support the Switch port, the sheer fact that Warner put this incomplete on cartridge still makes me angry. Why take the extra time, go the extra mile with a nice port and then just release it on a small sized cartridge?

    Oh, I know: money.

I don’t support that shit and people should think twice or buy it second hand, before they send a signal to greedy publishers.

This game was so much fun and its great that its the best selling game of 2023.
