   I mean you don’t have to complete the research. Most people bought the go plus+ because they wanted shiny sleep hat snorlax. Myself included

   You know you don’t have to download Pokemon Sleep, right? Literally all you do is hold the button on the Go Plus+ when you sleep to start “tracking”, hold it again when you wake up to stop, then connect it to Pokemon GO. That’s it.

   Also, it’s like 5 free encounters with a costume Snorlax that could be shiny.
