Did the game awards really tell aonuma to hurry up with his acceptance speech

However a tight schedule it is, this is incredibly disrespectful.
Cut down on the marketing if you have to. Do not disrespect the creators/developers by doing this. Smh
Probably to avoid another God of War guy situation.
Yeah Aonuma, hurry it up. Those CGI trailers aren’t gonna play themselves!
Listen Kojima had a lot to say, it’s not his fault everything was running late.
I am pretty sure everyone had that time limit. The speeches I seen were about 1 minute about. So I don’t know why people are only calling this one out. Though it would have been better to give Aonuma more time because of translation.
All the winners got the “Please Wrap It Up” message. You can hear the bell in the stream whenever they go over the 30-second time allotted.
For a show called “The Game Awards”, they don’t really seem to care about the awards and winners as much as they do about the game reveals.
BG3 people got told to wrap it up when talking about the people theyve lost, what a shit show
It’s the reason the game awards are a total farce, giving 30 seconds to people who put their blood, sweat and tears into a game good enough to win an award is NOT ok.
If you wanna make it an award show then make it an award show but they won’t because video game journalist has no integrity.
An award show telling people to wrap up their speeches? Unprecedented
I mean if everyone did what Christopher Judge did last year, the show would never end. 30 seconds is a little too short, though. I get why they did that but it was disrespectful.
A long speech is eventually good. But a rushed speech is forever bad.
Nintendolife just minutes ago pushed a terribly entitled “article” that Aonuma, giving Nintendo’s legendary status, should have had more time than others. That’s an awful take. Everyone had been treated the same. The whole game awards was an awful, commercial-like event and no one was happy to listen 20 second speeches. We should push for everyone to be treated equal, regardless of their “legendary” status.
Mhm but Anthony Mackie could spend countless minutes just blabing on stage about nothing in particular.
I figure Kojima didn’t get one. They kiss his butt consistently. Not saying he hasn’t had an impact, but come on guys .
They started playing off Neil Newbon almost immediately it seemed like too
Aonuma had to have a translator too, that’s even harder to fit into 30 seconds
They should just drop the whole award show guise and do pre recorded speeches from the winners then. Let them make a full speech that’s viewable online and play an edited one for the “awards” show between the game reel commercials.
It gets in the way of the ads (trailers). Those awards and recognizing the work are secondary to the marketing money.
Everyone got rushed on their speeches, Aonuma’s wasn’t even that long. They just had to pay the bills, I guess.
This really feels like a “we don’t want another 8 minute Christopher Judge speech” thing. They probably have to pay a lot of money for broadcasting whenever they go over time and that speech and other long speeches last year probably costed more than they would have liked.
It gets in the way of Geoff fawning over Kojima
They even did it to the Game of the Year winners when they were dedicating the award to team members that died during development.
Dude, this is award show host 101. It’s a gentle nudge, not a cane from stage left.
At least no gamers with mental illnesses rushed the stage this time.
They are not given time to speech, just receive award.
Everyone is given the same time restrictions. Aonuma and Nintendo are not above the rules.
Here’s an idea: Cut out all the cringe segments with the Muppets or celebrity guests with zero stage presence and give more time to the people who are being awarded for their contributions to the industry.
TGA is more about reveals and ads than it is about actually giving awards to games. It’s basically just E3 but they hand out trophies at this point.
If you’re giving english speakers 30 seconds give those who need a translator 1 minute. I get the need to keep the show moving but accommodations are needed with a language barrier. You can have both.
This was my first game awards and I was so disappointed – give the people who made these amazing games the chance to speak. I felt like I watched a 3 hour long string of trailers with some awards rushed through them.
It was so bizarre how all the winners were swiftly played off stage but then Anthony Mackie got like five minutes to point at random people in the audience lmao. It poses the question: What and who actually matters at this event called **The Game Awards** ?? Apparently, not the people actually making the games (aside from Geoff’s BFF Kojima). Like, Sam Lake is fucking iconic, so is Aonuma, let them talk as long as they want, ten minutes more or less don’t matter when the whole event is already three hours long.
