Beyond the Hype. I created this series as there is a lot of click bait and false impressions of pokemon and I want to give you a real in depth analysis of whether a pokemon is worth spending dust and candies on.
The new season of Timeless Travel has been announced with buffs to pokemon like talonflame, toxicroak, and azumarill and nerfs to steelix breaking swipe and medicham. Here is a full analysis of the new buffs, nerfs, and pokemon with new moves.
This week is ultra league and retro cup. Retro cup is a 1500CP (Great League) with steel, dark, and fairy banned. These banned typings lead to an increase in flyers, ghost, and dragons in the meta.
Not creative but very strong. Shadow Dragonair, Vigoroth, and Lanturn.

I run this with altaria lead, what’s the benefits of sdragonair instead? I guess eliminate the “weakness” to electric?
I ran this exact team after you put out your altaria-lanturn-vig team a few days ago. I had just built up my shadow ‘nair so I subbed it in for altaria and the team worked great for me too.
I'm having relative success with aboma+jelli+toxapex/tentacruel. Seeing a lot of dragon/lanturn leads. ABB to lure out the lanturn, backline can deal with vigo or licki safe swap. Aboma can close against waters, even energyballing poliwraths.

I feel like in a lot of these limited metas it’s so important to keep alignment. You are at such a disadvantage once you switch out unless you have something that really breaks their core.
What do you do against all these ghosts running around? Don't really have an answer for them, same for Vig, so spammy. Tried so many Lanturn/Dragonair combos, all failed at some point.

These long rotations of limited cups are really killing the vibe. Just for context, we’ve gone from rank 1 to nearly veteran and we’re still days away from cup turnover.

Yo, how much better is shadow draginair vs normal Dragonair. I got a rank 18 normal Dragonair and a rank 288 shadow Dragonair, contemplating which one to invest stardust on. 😇

I'm running vigo-lanturn-abo. Just got my placement. Aaaand forgot that the legendary ecounter is not guaranteed anymore 😢😢 i was a bit disappointed hahahah

Thanks for sharing! One thing that I do a little differently is run dragon pulse instead of Aqua tail. Ghosts are a problem on lead, especially jellicent,and froslass will shield a potential aqua tail anyways. Being able to do massive damage after farming down, something is great, and usually unexpected.

I’ve had some good success with either altaria lead Lanturn frosslass closer depending on the leads I switch Lanturn to lead but saving shields for frosslass is crazy
Usually run lanturn,vig, Pidgeot, with about 60+% win. Ran this, went 8-2.
My first team this season was like nidoQ, fearow, quag, about 50% glad i switched.

Retro cup is one of the better specialty cups but running any cup for two weeks straight is annoying 😂

This was my starter team, but changed deoxys for vigoroth using It as lead and i got better results
I'm having fun with Medicham, shadow Gligar and Lanturn. The Night Slash boost can really take you out of a oinch, but even without it is very good.
Can I replace S. dragonaire with S. dragonite? Is a rank 4 Shadow dragonite a good enough replacement?
Did you see a Cradilly or Abnasnow with this line up? Seems like everyone at my level is running double ice combo. With those pokes have a move for Lantern.
