Beyond the Hype. I created this series as there is a lot of click bait and false impressions of pokemon and I want to give you a real in depth analysis of whether a pokemon is worth spending dust and candies on.
The new season of Timeless Travel has been announced with buffs to pokemon like talonflame, toxicroak, and azumarill and nerfs to steelix breaking swipe and medicham. Here is a full analysis of the new buffs, nerfs, and pokemon with new moves.

Good morning Dan
Let's go Danπ
Always informative, always clear, always useful. Keep it up Dan!
I definitely want to start with vigoroth but I also have a rank4 Dunsparce that I haven't been using for a while.
I will definitely be using my hundo patchrisu, Iβm planning on submitting depending on how it goes haha π
Gliscor is an interesting pick in this cup, with Wing Attack / Sand Tomb/ Night Slash. Only weakness are Water/Ice, which is going to be everywhere,
Whimsicott might be a solid pokemon for this cup. Grass that beats counter users and flying dragons ππ»
Vigoroth looks to dominate with Counter and Rockslide. I might put Brick Break in place of Body Slam just for the mirror which *will* happen often. Also, Froslass with Triple Axle and Crunch worked amazingly well for me in Retro, as a super-spammy one-two combo. And Iβm not going to miss seeing Poliwrath for a while.
New rankings are out for the holiday cup. Mostly stayed the same but aloen marawk fell out of the top 20 replaced by A-9tails and A-sanslash
A-9 will get in because of the ice typing. That shadow will be a sneaky pick for fast move damage. Lanturn will be everywhere so, pair the shadow A-9 with shadow Vic (resists Vigoroth's counter)
What would be a good third?
Banger video, Dan! Thanks for pointing out that it's unwise to blindly use creators' teams and that it's best to modify based on your preference of play/what you're seeing on ladder. Too often do I see a team frequent the ladder, quickly check the latest YT uploads and instantly know how to play around them. Extremely informative as always, thanks again for the insight!
Hawlucha looks very strong imo as closer.
Counter is weak and rock neutral.
Only ice is a problem but 1 flying press just straight kills anything same with electric
I have a really good IV Altaria that im considering powering up. Is Altaria any good? She seems slow and might get out paced. Im new to this btw, so im trying to wrap my head around everything, and how to spend my limited resources ^^
Good stuff, Dan. Don't sleep on Whimsicott though — I think it could be really good in the lead and a decent check to most of the Normal types here.
Your last team gave me an idea, with how you said people are unlikely to shield lanturn/charja, and by the time Wiggly comes out it's too late.
I think I'll try the same team I've been running in the Retro cup: Dubwool, Dunsparce, shadow Victreebel (or may swap for Wiggly)
Nobody ever shields the spam moves from these safeswap mons. And by the time Vic comes out, it's too late.
Hey
I did the same thing with Lanturn in the Fossil cup, chip with tiny damage moves that the opponent lets through and closing with Kartana leaving the opponent with 2 shields for the next game.
I like mudshot stunfisk here
Thanks for the analysis! I think Iβll try an Aurorus+Chesnaught combo with some kind of safe swap
Never been more excited for a new cup rotation lol. So tired of retro and I donβt usually play UL.
DAN-ta Clause making lists and CHECKING THEM TWICE.
I'm starting on pvp, what is a good replacement for Altaria in the first team? I got the other 2, but don't have an Altaria yet
Could triple axle froslass be a sleeper pick? Sure itβs weak to fire but pretty free otherwise?
Yaaaay, another vigoroth cup π.. I don't get theblogic of normal types being included in this cup
Litleo looks very strong Incinerate, Crunch, Flame Charge! Lol
I think Litleo, Vigoroth, Stunfisk is looking very good!
I was running aurorus in retro and it was pretty decent hopefully I can get some use out of it here
I swear everyone in Elo at this point in the season will have Vigiroth and probably lanturn. Sadly I'm not changing this with my Arctibax lead into a double safe swap of Vigiroth and Lanturn. I'm excited to use this team
Water gun might not be the move on lanturn if every team is running lanturns lol
Wonder how shadow graveler lead double razor leaf would do
And then there is Galvantula, beating about everything but the Fires and things like Stunfisk.
Aurorus is again great only on paper…
Dubwool- Lanturn- Vigoroth.
Please try it
Nice video I figure I would change up litleo for pyroar, vigoroth, and rank 1 chandelure pyroar start, vigoroth swap, chandelure sweep hard to maneuver but adds fun to the wins
DanOttawa POGO, you forever have my respect. π π
