TLDR: They say that they release a new RPG every year so they don’t have the resources for better visuals. They could spend 4 to 5 years on a game but “there is no other company in the country with 65 employees putting out RPGs every year”

Hire a few more devs & localise quicker please! I wanna play the game but it in a language I understand.

I know the Ys games have never had amazing graphics, but I think there’s something special about the look of their games. I think they look good despite not being technically impressive.

Man Falcom is a small development company that has been doing their own thing since the 80s. I don’t expect the best graphics from them. It’s pretty amazing that they’re still even around. Where others have been gobbled up by bigger companies or have gone defunct this company has been chugging along. They don’t always release a great game but when they hit they really give us some hidden and not so hidden gems. Let them cook I say.

I really don’t mind the graphics.

As long as their artwork stays intact.

  6. Only thing I wish they could improve on are their global releases. Their games take so long to release outside of Japan.

I’m perfectly happy with graphics taking a backseat in favor of good gameplay and higher turnaround for games. As someone working in the industry, graphics alone can take years to finalize. Meanwhile, the gameplay loop and mechanics were developed and finalized only months after conception. The Ys games look good for what they are and have amazing gameplay.

I’m totally fine with the way Falcon games look. I’ve been a “graphics are everything” guy. As long as it has good gameplay, story and likable characters, I’m fine.
