I’m playing Pokemon Masters, a mobile gacha game set on the island of Pasio. Collect many Pokemon waifus and husbandos and participate in unique battles involving sync pairs.
Merry Christmas everyone! For our Christmas gift, DeNA released Neo Champion (NC) Rosa today, which I have been looking forward to. I will dive a bit deeper into NC Rosa but long story short, she is pretty good. In the video, I did a normal run of Champion Stadium, then I went back and tried NC Rosa for the rest of the battles (like what I did with Anabel). Keep in mind that I am using the parameter that quickly charges my move gauge in all the NC Rosa battles, which makes her move gauge economy look better than it actually is.
NC Rosa grants your team a lot of the Physical Move Up Next (PMUN) effect and the Special Move Up Next (SMUN) effect. This can be really good to boost your damage. NC Rosa also gives your team a wide arrange of stat increases, mainly in speed and critical rate. Paired with her huge defense stats and healing ability, she makes a great general support unit.
The first thing I want to talk about is her Sprint EX Role. NC Rose is the first character I unlocked an EX Role for, since I like the idea of lowering the sync move count when I sync with her. I didn’t realize it, but she is the first unit to have the Sprint EX Role. In my opinion, the EX Role of Striker, Tech, and Field are all pretty bad for a Support unit, but Sprint works really well. You’d always want to sync with NC Rose anyways for the double sync buff, so the Sprint EX Role works well to try to push in damage quickly with the next sync move.
The second thing I want to talk about is just how she feels to use. And I think she feels nice once you get the hang of her. While it is kind of a waste of the PMUN and SMUN effects to start off the battle with Ode to Glory!, I like increasing my team’s speed so that I can comfortably use Relic Song of Wonder (RSoW) every subsequent turn. Also, NC Rosa’s sequencing is different depending if you want the PMUN effect or the SMUN effect. If you want the PMUN effect, you need to make sure you are fighting type, which may require the use of RSoW at the start of the battle. If you want the SMUN effect, you can start off the battle with Ode to Glory!
The final thing I want to mention is her sync grid. I honestly don’t think she is that much better at 3/5 copies. While you do get some Potion bonuses and extra defense, it’s not really necessary since NC Rosa already has such high defense. I mainly wanted to test out the Go Viral node on her sync grid, which is why I 3/5ed her. And I’m here to report that Go Viral DOES NOT WORK WITH RSoW. NC Rosa would have been the best support unit in the game if Go Viral worked with RSoF since you can get very consistent widespread sleep on the opponent. As it stands, Sing takes advantage of Go Viral, which is okay. I have not tested a Sing build or Teeter Dance build, but you have these options if you choose to 3/5 your NC Rosa.
I think NC Rosa is a very strong, general support unit. While I don’t think she is better than NC Blue (I used him in the video so you can see how powerful he can be), I think NC Rosa is still one of the best support options. NC Rosa reminds me a lot of Aura Cynthia, since both have potions, both raise the team’s defense, both give PMUN and SMUN, and both can fully raise the team’s critical rate. But I feel like NC Rosa may be better, because her stat raising potential is better, she can raise speed very well, and applies rebuff, and she grants more of the PMUN and SMUN effect for more damage. Aura Cynthia is still good though because she has better healing potential and fighting zone. Don’t sleep on a support unit that provides both defensive and offensive buffs. That being said, I don’t suggest scouting her right now if you are on the fence. Wait until the next datamine, then decide if you want to scout for NC Rosa.
Thanks for watching!
