This comparison is not exactly 1:1, but rather a close estimate. This is based on the part of the reveal trailer where a red joy-con controller is shown side-by-side with a Switch Lite, I then resized everything in photoshop until it matched up as best I could.

From doing this I found out the screen should be around 90% the size of the original switch, or 5.5 inches opposed to the standard’s 6.2.

  2. Makes me wonder if they could have just kept the same screen size and removed that bezel.

Do you guys think that the price of the regular switch will drop a bit? I know it’s unrealistic but maybe the fact that there’s a new model will affect the price

  4. The_Meriff

When you compare it to a docked switch the screen size is going to be a big difference haha

  5. mastachaos

I wonder if they’ll patch games like Mario Party to allow you to play without removable joycons…

So the only concern i have with this is the parents who dont realize what they are buying. Say a kid ask for a switch for their birthday or christmas and the parents see this and buy it thinking its the switch lqter that its only the portable version and cant really be played with the family

  7. Can’t wait for the Nintendo Switch Micro line.

the lite will still be 720p but smaller screen. Does that mean games will technically look better on the lite?

  9. I’m curious how the Lite will fit in my hands and how they’ll feel after long play time. I have difficulty staying comfortable holding the Switch for too long. The PS Vita is super light and feels great, but looks like Switch lite will be a bit heavier than that.

Just think… For Lite owners, they are now legitimately getting The Witcher 3 officially on a handheld. NOT hybrid or a home console, a HANDHELD!!

  11. PesoOfCoal

Will you be able to connect other controllers to it

  12. Rey_Zephlyn

If you think about it if the screen is the same resolution but is more dense the lite will look better for games.

Unless it has less power ofc.

  13. I was actually waiting for them to release a “mini” switch, because personally i want it as just a handheld to replace my 3ds . Whatever their strategy on this, im sold. I hope it can support homebrew

  14. I already feel like the Switch is too small for me in handheld but the Switch Lite looks like it’ll be perfect for my daughter. It seems more like a DS replacement

That’s not too bad. The thing that I don’t like is that you can’t hook it up to the TV. So yeah, it’s cheaper and I can afford it now, but I can’t play games like Smash with my friends on the same TV. Perfect for loners though.

  16. Uncle-Cake

So they got rid of the docking ability just to shave an inch off the length? smh

  17. KittenSneezs

Well crap. If I knew they’d do this I would have waited. It’ll probably be easier for me to hold too. Ah damnit all.

  18. laserschelln

Switch is too big for handheld gaming anyway. Could be the perfect size.

  19. WaffleCat3367

Yellow Switch lite reminds me of banana

  20. flyingfox227

Yeah this is really nice, my main complain always about the Switch was it was way too big to comfortably used as a handheld beyond your house and even then it was too wide feeling awkward to me.

  21. ThatEpicMoment

Still doesn’t look super pocketable to me so I guess I’m missing that point. But it’s a great price for kids who want to play Switch games. I think making it NEVER attach to a TV was a dumb move. Could have sold a “lite” dock to them down the road, or just a cable that permitted it. Fun colors and love the D-pad change!

Yellow bezels actually look more up to date then the black ones on the original. Still not in favor for bezels of that size tho

  23. Unt4medGumyBear

As someone who drives to work, works 8 hours then goes home I dont need the switch lite. If I still took the bus, I’d pre order it right now. For mario maker, pokemon and zelda it’s a must

  24. andy18794

anyone knows if the screen is a touchscreen or now is just for display purpose only ?

  25. Midnight_Tower_Hour

BRO THIS IS SO COOL, its gonna be perfect for my niece cause its all one device and smaller for her hands, im glad Nintendo made this
    Switch💙🖤💛

  26. Throbbingprepuce

Personally I’ll be buying one. I’ve been wanting a switch for a while but I can’t afford to just go out and buy one and this is going to be way cheaper so I’ll finally be able to play the switch

  27. [deleted]

Anyone know if the battery will be any better? The switch battery was okay, but not great.

  28. [deleted]

Smaller screen, but same resolution means more pixels per inch. I expect the graphics to look better than the OG Switch’s handheld mode.

  29. DarkestDayOfMan

I feel like I’m one of the only people who is excited for everyone else stoked about this, but the whole thing itself doesn’t really personally excite me that much.

It reminds me of when the 2DS was revealed. Like neat, this is a way for people to be able to play on a tighter budget.

  30. LittleIslander

This seems like the perfect size to me. If they fixed drifting I’m probably going to Switch from the OG to the lite.

Oh man , text gonna be a bitch on that one
