Beyond the Hype. I created this series as there is a lot of click bait and false impressions of pokemon and I want to give you a real in depth analysis of whether a pokemon is worth spending dust and candies on.
The new season of Timeless Travel has been announced with buffs to pokemon like talonflame, toxicroak, and azumarill and nerfs to steelix breaking swipe and medicham. Here is a full analysis of the new buffs, nerfs, and pokemon with new moves.
My last but very strong fantasy cup team that got me to 2852 ELO. Bastidon, Escavalier, and Azumarill.

love the rants Dan ๐
well, it seems that it is time to power up that rank 1 Bastiodon that i have been hang on for the past year! LOL after this upcoming battle week we are having 2 weeks of Bastiodon cup! LOL I matter well get used to play the big guy!
Not a bad way to think outside the box!
Just checked my Bastiodon and it's rank 2 IV. Can't believe I was sleeping on it
I was 50 pts away from Veteran before this cup. Now Iโm at 1875 ๐ข. I mean I dropped on purpose for Go Battle Weekend. ๐
What's the play against a Turtonator lead? – I saw the one against Whimsicott. In general, do you try and force switch to keep Escav away from Turt, or soft lose to farm up to get some drill runs to fire off?
Nice! I hit Legend earlier this week running basically the same team, only I had Acid Spray instead of AA on Escav and Tapu Fini instead of Azu. As you were showing, no one expects Bastiodon, so a lot of teams are double- or even triple-weak to it. Even the Counter users in this meta still have to worry about Flamethrower if Basti can come into the matchup after having farmed up against something else.
This was literally the first team I theorized for the Fantasy Cup! I didn't end up running it, and I think what I ended up using worked a lot better for me (given that I'm currently on the leaderboard), but it's cool to see this coming back around. I think Bastiodon is strong against a lot of teams right now.
I live in the southern hemisphere and it's pretty rough here too, didn't play the fairy event at all because we had a massive heat wave.
Love the analysis as always Dan. Almost at 2200 watching your videos. Thanks for the amazing daily content.
This Cup is beyond tedious. It feels like it's been going on for a month.
I can't help but remember you complaining about the Catch Cup and how unfair it was to veteran players.
Now here we are in a cup in which the meta consists entirely of Pokemon that not only do new players not have, but that we've never even seen. My best options in this event are Lucario, Stunfisk, Magnezone, Wigglytuff, Dragonair, and BRONZONG.
Needless to say, we've lost something like 70% of my matches to Flygon, Mawile, and Escavalier.
I have not lost even once to an Azumarill, though, so i guess that's something.

What did you mean by bad fast move timing? My understanding is both Smack Down/Bubble are 3 turn moves so you will always sneak
hey dan, you cant have bad fast move timing when its a 3 turn move vs a 3 turn move. they will always get the move through when you throw a charged move
Hi Dan, how about doing another YouTuber tournament? I really enjoyed the interlude season tournament, I watched every battle on everyoneโs channel. Could help all of the channels in the slow season get more views.
Same weather here in Finland, got a good dump of snow today. No grinding in the forecast.
Dan, you are not accounting for tank time in your 50 games. Don't forget your tank time for extra dust!
Please change the way you TALK. Your fast sentences and ubrupt pasuses combined with uncomfortable punctuation is NAUSEATING. I literally turn off your videos because of it. Haven't been able to stomach one video in it's entirety. Annoying as hell.
How do you bank sets? ๐คจ
If I miss sets from a previous day, I still only get 5 sets when the day turns over
Thanks, Dan. Keep up the great work!
Dan, this is an awesome learning channel, really! You've been perfecting this teaching thing over the past few months!
Man, what a title! hahahaha
At 13:34 and 16:19 you said bad fast move timing, but with 3 turn moves against another 3 turn move there will always be a sneak if the game works properly, so there is no optimal timing.
now that you talk about pokedexi, will we ever see a collab of you two again? ๐
Thanks Mr Ottawa sir ๐ you have been killing these videos lately, very insightful
2:00 DO speaking his thoughts ๐
I tent to agree on the IV thing. This type of meta helps enforce your argument on why sometimes having the highest ranked mon isn't as beneficial as something with slightly higher attack. I don't think this is always advisable, though. I think in general, it's nice to have a higher attack stat for pokemon that are more likely to be put into mirror matches. In this case, Azu in the fantasy cup. Another great example is swampert in open leagues. Max bulk doesn't help you in most cases because you're not going to live multiple charge moves anyway. So prioritizing a little extra attack where it can make the difference against common mons with similar attack (sableye, venu, and of course the swampert mirror) can make a huge difference. I do still think in general you want max bulk though, except for those exception pokemon and/or metas.
This team was fire. Didnโt play this league until last night and went from 2000 to 2350 by the end of my battles today
