This was first discovered by Kuno and was brought to everyone’s attention thanks to the Legendary Gauntlet leaderboard. I had a feeling that Bede would be able to do this with his new grid tiles but I knew it was gonna be rough.
And it really is an obnoxious one. This run became the one as I got an incredibly lucky confusion proc that led to Alakazam KOing itself. That opened the door for an early second sync and for Bede to have enough HP to tank Bar 2.
Here’s a list of things that have to go in your favor for you to get this solo:
– You have to prevent at least two moves (maybe at least three) during Bar 1, whether through a confusion proc or through accuracy debuffs from Hard Knocks.
– You have to prevent any misses arising from Mud-Slap’s accuracy debuff, especially on Alakazam. The most consistent way of doing this is by getting evasion debuffs.
– In the same vein, you have to hope that you get enough evasion debuffs so that the +3 evasion at the start of Bar 2 doesn’t lead to misses.
– Don’t get flinched by Latias’s Zen Headbutt or confused by Alakazam’s Psybeam. These were instant resets for me.
– You have to hope that Alakazam’s confusion doesn’t run out in the two turns that you let it move so that your Dazzling Gleam spam KOes it right before it uses Shadow Ball. (Or do what I did and hope Alakazam hurts itself in confusion instead lol)
– You have to hope that Dazzling Gleam MGR 3 is cooperative as you have no other way of gauge control. The sure crit Dragon Pulse in Bar 2 means Vigilance lucky skill is mandatory.
– Ideally, you shouldn’t get any Sp Def debuffs from Latias’s Energy Ball in Bar 1.
– Ideally, your opening Dazzling Gleams should do all of the following: Remove Flygon’s Attack buff, remove Latias’s Attack buff, and get an evasion debuff on both Latias and Alakazam. If you get some Accuracy debuffs going that should help out in the long run too, although note that the opponents start with +2 Accuracy.
All that said, I still think this is easier than the SS Wally solo because Bede has the advantage of having sustain, Unbending, and a way to skip the second half of Bar 2. Wally may have the stronger sync but he has a much harder time getting to Bar 3 than Bede does.
Either way I don’t regret not doing either of those solos for Gauntlet lol both of them are so hard.

I love him my scrunkly
i dont have bede, but ss wallys kit still putting at work
1:51 It’s so satisfying when you debuff Latias so much that Fluid Fortification vanishes
That’s a… long checklist of good RNG you need for this clear… Wonder how many resets it took you
I both love and hate that players go down to the most minute niches and rng rolls in order to find a way to make certain solos or duos work, meanwhile I can’t even get a solid team of three to function correctly on my best days. Props to everyone doing the hard work, you guys are awesome.
Bede showing everyone why he's the most elite of them all. Kudos to the clear!
His theme is awesome btw
