Battle Rally’s pretty fun. It takes the same concept as Villa but makes it a lot more engaging with the diversity of battles – all old ones, yes, but way more interesting than what Villa offered. The points system and item shop also add a layer of depth to it that makes teambuilding a bit more than just going for the OP units immediately.

Since I’m me, I decided to a run using only rival units and without buying anything from the shop. And I know you’re gonna ask – how did I do Area 10 itemless? Well, I went for the Hard stage instead of the Very Hard stage, since I didn’t wanna cheese the last battle with the almighty Apple Cup. It helped that the Hard stage I got in this run was a brand new UB (Palmer), which made it a more appealing pick than the Very Hard stage option (Thorton).

This was my very first run of the Rally, so it’s hardly optimized – as my low point count at the end shows haha. I was stingy with the units for much longer than I should’ve been, and I wasn’t using TMs since I was saving them for potential use in a future stage. I think getting that 300-point item that reveals all of the stages at the start is a worthwhile investment since it lets you teambuild way more efficiently. If I knew that Summer Steven stage was upcoming, for example, I would’ve definitely saved Summer N for it.

I’m also trying to see if going for the Hard stage itemless in Area 10 would be more beneficial than going to the Very Hard stage with the Apple Cup. I got 400 points from my run here with only a x2 multiplier, and to get that many points with the Apple Cup on Very Hard I would have to get a x3 multiplier, which means having one matching role + EX role at the very least (with the two other teammates also matching at least one of those roles). That’ll probably be easier to achieve once we get more old units with EX roles (and more cakes to give), but I think it’s a worthwhile trade should you not have the right role combinations.

I don’t really have anything to say about the individual battles since they’re all the standard CS and Battle Challenge clears, but I did want to briefly talk about my Area 10 clear with Palmer. It is absolutely my favorite of the UBs so far, not only because it features Barry as Palmer’s teammate, but it also emulates Regigigas’ Slow Start by having the first sync cycle be very tame – using only weak attacks and buffs – but the post-sync being almost impossible to beat. Right after he syncs, he queues a sure-crit AOE Max Move that’ll be boosted by Normal Zone if you don’t replace it, and all the opponents get 3 sync buffs from that sync. I think it’s a really funny stage, and I had a lot of fun finding the right teammates to get the sync acceleration I needed for the pre-sync clear.

If you want the sync grids for any of the teams, let me know.

  1. For Palmer, I just went all out with the Apple Cup and finished it with Wally. First, Wally won against Cynthia to become Champion of Sinnoh. Now, he wins against Palmer. Symmetry, my friend!

  2. It’s a really fun game mode, but the rewards are not that great. Giving some gems would have been cool

  3. I had like x7 Fighting-Type Bonus and Apple Cup at the end and it fucking obliterated Palmer with 999,999 damage Meteor Charges lmfao

  4. I don't believe This…. Area 10 Will Force You To use Apple cup To survive Against Palmer And His Team Since they Have The Most dangerous passives Vigilance Won't Help Since They Have Piercing blows And The sides have Zero In 3 And Palmer has Clutch critical And swag bag Which Sync Pair Is Made For This Stage?! No One is Gonna survive Crit Hits.

  5. Battle Rally is very interesting! As you said, it's similar with Villa but with a lot of creativity in terms of items, and the randomized trainers as well as the bonuses make it feel a lot less repetitive too! They have their own gimmicks too, and the Palmer fight was super fun! It was a trial run so I used Apple Cup, but I was surprised that Palmer fight was basically the new Ultimate Battle! Glad that you have a lot of fun in the teambuilding and the battles too!

Because I got support and sprint bonuses, I brought my EX Role Paulo, with BP Morty and Champion Bede. I didn't know that the type bonuses (I kept getting Gym Leader, Sandstorm, and Ghost bonuses) could stack! That definitely helped against Palmer so he could be taken down before things went south.

All in all, a lot of fun! Might only do the weekly missions to conserve the rally tickets but yeah, feels like an improved Villa and I like it!

Also, yes, Barry as Palmer's teammate! Love to see the father-son dynamic!
