Alola canonically doesn't understand Mega Evolution. Especially in the case of Aerodactyl, other Mega entries in the PokéDex say that its Mega form is actually what it originally was like pre-Fossils, and is overjoyed to be complete again.
I like how we all acknowledge that these painful descriptions of Mega only exist in Gen 7, where they are trying to demote them and remove them from the game complete in Gen 8.

Nah those are bullshit
The only reason they did this was so that we could stop wanting it back. But no, the pain isn't real I refuse to believe it.
The rule life noticed with mega Evolution is this: if it's fluffy, it's happy. If it's spiky, it's in pain.

I think these only apply to when you mega evolve with out a fully developed bond and lack of trust, like Korrina's lucario in the anime.
