Review of the new Doyoky Epoch Joycons

Review of the new Doyoky Epoch joycons

First thing first, I received a prototype unit to test those, so my experience might differ from the end product.

If you are familiar with “big” joycons such as Nixy’s, Doyoky/Bon ok/IINE/etc., this is the enhanced version of those

Long story short, I’ve had them since November I think and they have become my daily drivers since.

Compared to the older iteration of big joycons, those feel way sturdier and less hollow. One of the good things about that is that the vibration feels way better because it felt pretty bad IMO on others.

Another great new thing is that all functions have their own button on the front, which is less confusing. But it has its drawbacks since it makes it bit of a clutter, especially because home/capture buttons are up top next to +/- so mistress are very common.

I had a couple of software issues though (settings such as rumble, colors, macro are not saved). No big deal, I guess it could be fixed by an update.

Overall it is a nice controller but I am not sure it is worth the upgrade if you already have some iteration of the big joycons. If it had HD rumble at least that would be even better.

Anyway don’t hesitate if you have a question 😀
