While I agree, there’s 2 issues: 1) they didn’t add the shiny sprites, so there were some anecdotes of people transferring shinies, and 2) there aren’t sprites for the newer Pokémon, so they’d have to get a pixel artist to make them.
Hypothetically, this should all be easy work for a multi-billion dollar company. But we both know they’re cheapskates.

They probably won’t as not every Pokemon has a Pixel art rendition, starting in legends Arceus they got rid of them when inside the PC boxes and instead uses Headshots of the Pokémon, and in Gen 9 they use these sort of Drawn art style instead. So all the Pokemon from Hisui and Paldea wouldn’t have pixel art while all the ones from Gen 1 to 8 would

that was so fun, and was also in a time where I remember hunting down ghost types (for mew, I think) and it was legitimately like a hunt. now a lot of events coincide with special research and make it easier

Everyone saying they wish it was permanent or at least a permanent option are exactly why they won’t do this April fools gag again. Niantic thought it was a silly joke but we were all like jokes on you we love this shit. So now they either have to make it work permanently (which would require sprites to be made of several Pokémon) or never mention it ever again because if they did it would just come off as mean to tease us with it.

There were people who reeeeealy hated it and acted like it was unreadable. Lots of newer players acted like only older players could understand it. As if these icons had never been new to the older players in the first place? Come on. Think that through.
