Except Carbink isn't actually good in pvp, its an error in the leaderboards. You will never see anyone using it in Great League, I sure haven't.

0:47 I don't know about Field Research, but the paid Special Research gave enough Mega Energy to unlock Diancie's Mega form for "free" (no other sources needed). I also distinctly remember catching Carbink from Incenses and they had a very high chance of dropping some Diancie Energy; I don't remember enough about the raids to say if Energy was a reward for the raid itself, or just a drop from catching the Carbink.

I was able to get a shiny carbink in Pokemon Violet, and even though it kind of sucks I still use it on my team all of the time.
