I dont get how people manage a Smeargle with Lock-On and Flying Press. The only Pokémon with Flying Press are Hawlucha and Lucha Libre Pikachu, neither of which have Lock-On as a fast attack. So how could you get Smeargle to photobomb and absorb the first two attacks from your buddy when you can’t actually have a buddy with those two moves at the same time??? No idea.
The smeargle needs you to have a shadow or purified regi. (They all have lock-on as a fast attack) The buddy regi needs to be shadow or purified because Smeargle can't learn frustration or return, so the game lets the smeargle roll for a random legacy move.

Ive got a pretty stacked line up for the LCC this rotation. I gave up on smeargle bc all my IV spreads were garbo. Rank 1s for marill, shuckle, and bronzor. Good IVs on vullaby, licki, snorunt, scrafty, and annihilape.
After months of grinding I finally hit Veteran. Mantine lead, Ape and Crocalor. Croc was the MVP providing so much coverage. Thanks Dan for always providing us with amazing videos.
Man i have been grinding all season with shadow regirock and frustration only for a random LATAM (latin american) event to replace smeargle with a "chance" to encounter Maractus instead. A "CHANCE"!!!!! I managed to get a Smeargle with Lock-On/Sacred Sword at least but with trash IVs.
Porygon with tri attack is the only one I’ve seen before that forces a move change
I’ve been keeping a keen eye on my sub-500 catches for the past couple weeks for Little CC, and stockpiling dust for when the time comes to start adding moves
I disagree. Smeargle has been available for so long, and I never saw one in small catch cup in last season. Last time, small cup was SO much fun and it got me my first Ace rank, with the shittiest pokemon imaginable.
I consider it a really fun league, and I'll be playing the shit out of it. I do get your points, but no one in their right mind is spending all their XLs on a smeargle for a catch cup, and almost no one in the entire planet has a smeargle with that moveset that they have caught in the last 2 weeks. Shuckle? Yeah probably, but that brings me back to the ridiculous XL splurge needed for just a small catch cup. No one is gonna do it.
What we're gonna see a lot of, though, is annihilape, bronzor and eevee. Guaranteed. And each of those is a counter for the other, so it's gonna be fun for sure
I'm probably in the minority here, but LCC has been my bread and butter for the last 3 seasons. It's harder to get screwed by the matchmaking for me than Great League has been
Porygon2 with Lock on and Frustration. Frustration randomized the move you get. Keep re rolling until you get it.

I definitely like the concept of catch cups, but i understand for the more serious players trying to grind out the last few weeks it can be frustrating. Especially a little cup. I wish it was possible to have it earlier in the season but that obviously defeats the purpose
I got a hundo shuckle this season so I decided to make this my little cup season, but I still have very little hope. I wish I knew the smeargle trick, I was just gonna use elite tms. My shuckle is only at 400 now too and I don't wanna use most of my rare xl candies on it if I can help it. It's so insane that even with a hundo shuckle I'm still not sure if I can make this work. Isn't this supposed to be the easiest cup in theory?

I hope the Catch Cup is discontinued. It is the most unnecessary cup ever. Only Nintantic would halve the stardust costs for attacks this week – it would still be interesting. I'm basically taking a break this week. I would rather have all normal leagues open again for the last two weeks.
If I remember correctly smeargle copies both fast and first charge move of whatever Pokémon it photobombs so like what Pokémon has both lock on AND flying press???
one thing I’ll say is you don’t need to max Maril and Bronzor for example, last season I played with a lv 45 Marill and won 19 games in a row from how broken it was, let alone lv 50

I literally caught the rank 1 Marill for this this season, but that's all I caught that wws worthwhile. So no point playing this.
Having played the game just under a year and currently at 2750 range, I've quickly learnt that I simply cannot compete at this level as I do not have the candy or dust to level up the few useful Pokemon in catch Cup
Was really looking forward to little catch cup, I’ve got a rank #11 bronzor, rank #33 maril, rank #67 annihilape, rank #74 mandibuzz and a few others, but it’s hard to justify spending like 800k stardust on a week long cup.. especially when they basically will be useless after the cup
I didn’t really prepare for the little catch cup, but I had a Wiggly, a Sableye and a confusion Bronzor that I started using, and I’ve won probably 80% of games!
HATE catch cup with a dying passion. If they never used this cup again, I would be so happy.
If anyone is interested and checking the comments for the information.. to get smergal with lock-on and flying press, you want to make your buddy a pokemon like Shadow registeel (lock-on as it’s fast move) and the charge move frustration* A purified one will work as well as long as it has Return* as its charge move. This does not gaurentee you will get flying press on the first encounter bc it just pulls a random move smeargle can learn, one of them being flying press.
Charcadet is interesting and not in PvP. Paired with shadow quag and bronzer I’m killing it. Char is the swap.
