So this is my idea for a regional variant of Croagunk and a new evolution, who are the unused ice and poison type. All the text below will describe the concept and detail for these two if you care to know more about them
Starting off with Croagunk, the concept with this is how frogs can freeze in winter and survive, combined with the concept of preserving life through a cryogenic process. The main thing you’ll notice about Croagunk is the little things floating around in his cheeks, those are a very lethal bacteria. The idea is this disease was near the point of being completely eradicated, so in order to survive they chose to make Croagunks their host in order to not die out. And while ensuring their survival inside of a Croagunk, they also work on reproducing. The other noticeable feature is the icicle crystals that have formed on Croagunk. This mainly helps give off the ice type vibe, and also since Croagunk is almost completely frozen, staying so dormant almost all the time lets those icicles form, which kinda gives him a little bit of a defensive mechanism too
Now instead of a regional Toxicroak, I decided to have a new evolution for Croagunk instead, and so I present Croatagious. Croatagious keeps the croak part of Croagunk (and Toxicroak), and is combined with contagious. Instead of having the point fingers and giant throat sack Toxicroak has, Croatagious is more bulky, and the main thing being he now has warts on his back. No longer asleep and dormant, Croatagious is now fully awake. But during their time as a Croagunk, the disease within them has reproduced, and is now essentially a part of Croatagious. Croatagious will pluck the warts off his back, and use them as essentially a lethal bomb that shatters among impact, releasing the bacteria within the warts, greatly damaging and poisoning his foes
A little bit of a defense to the shinies, as I’m sure some people are going to see it as ugly: It’s not just because “frogs can be green”, it mostly helps with the disease concept. For example, if you were to watch a cartoon and the main character or any character was sick, usually you’ll see their faces turn green, helping imply the fact that they are sick. I did the most appealing green I could that still looked sickly, but I’m sure some people won’t be a fan
So yeah, this is my regional variant for Croagunk. I wish I could say I was the one who was skilled enough to draw this, but sadly I wasn’t.
