Skullspass, the skull pokemon, ground type.
-Skullspass, athough related to nosepass, is a different pokemon entirely. Instead of always pointing north, it uses its nose to point towards nearby gold. It is said that in olden times, pirates would use them to find buried treasure, or to find hidden gold on ships they pillaged. The bandanas they wear are not part of their body, but rather a custom they themselves adapted from their long gone pirate trainers. It will only evolve in the presence of a true pirate, or at the very least the seal of a true pirate, the black spot. Its diet consists of the gold it finds, however it will not require much of its loot to be satiated. If presented with a gholdengo, they will attack it without mercy.
Yohopass, the swashbuckler pokemon, ground/ghost type
-When a skullspass becomes promoted by a true captain, it becomes the much more powerful Yohopass. Pirate captains would have them bury themselves upside down to mark a treasure they buried, and unfortunately, many of them were left there to this day. Their locations are marked by the giant red X on their belly, and it is recommended that trainers not attempt to disturb it, as anyone who attempts to steal treasure guarded by Yohopass will become cursed. And worse yet, it will battle ruthlessly to kill whoever disturbed it with its swordlike golden chatot skulls. Its teeth wrap all the way around its body, and will open up to devour the souls of those it defeats in duels.
Skullspass and Yohopass will occasionally have a marking on their back resembling a powerful pokemon, carved there by their old trainers as a blessing from the legendary pokemon they worshipped. Skullspass may marked with the image of manaphy, worshipped by old pirates as the bringer of good fortune on the high seas. Yohopass may be marked with the image of Lunala, revered by old pirates for allowing them to navigate with the stars, or the image of Lugia, honored and feared by the old pirates as the bringer of storms and sinker of ships. As a result pirate speak, “Lugia” is a term for any sea pokemon powerful enough to sink a ship, similar to the term “leviathan”
Yohopass’s ability is Pirate’s Curse: if a held item that belonged to it at the start of a battle finds its way onto another pokemon in the battle, that pokemon will take a bit of damage each turn until the item passes to another pokemon, where its effect will pass onto them, or to yohopass again, who will not be affected by their own ability.
