Why i made it ? Baxcalibur looks pretty plain, adopting the same godzilla stance as many cooler pokemon, additionally all these pokemon use ranged attacks, or their teeth which works well with this build but neither baxcalibur’s claws nor axe seem very handy or easy to use. This redesigned one can easily swing it’s axe or pounce with it’s claws and it has a different shape to all the other pseudos, making it stand out more. The marks on its face serve no purpose other than adding a splash of color
Im sure that some of its inspirations make less sense this way but i prefer pokemon to look cool before you read its wikipedia article

Sadly he’s based on Godzilla + Concavenator.
You are missing the Point, he is based on the Showa era Godzilla suits, he is supposed to look like this, stop to make him more “draconian” that he should.
I think the only real issue is that he’s so small. Like damn those camera angles do him dirty, my guy should be so much bigger.
The redesign also feels like it’s going in the wrong direction from 2 bipedal mons to a quadrupedal. I don’t think an Ankylosaurus makes that much sense given they’re going for a more Tyrannosaur style evolution line. Pokemon usually doesn’t cross too many animal families in terms of evolutionary lines

I think it’s also based on Excalibur (the sword stuck in a rock) which I think the original design plays on.
I think if you kept the big blade on the back, but had it on all fours, kinda like a Dimetrodon it would be awesome.

Last time we got a non goofy dragon was noivern and im really salty about it. Don’t get me wrong i love dragonite and am okay with hydrapple but i would much prefer most of the dragons were at least sharper and more beastly looking like salamance, garchomp and rayquaza.
But then it cant turn upsidedown to attack
I love baxcalibur :c I didn’t have to read the wiki lol, just a huge Godzilla fan. Love the ugly babies, love the dorsal plate, LOVE the signature attack.
Your design is cooool though, we could use an ankylosaurus/stegosaurus or something.

After all, not all Pokémon are designed to be badass. Some are designed to be cute or goofy or ugly, as long as they also look like they could be your friend.
Your redesign is fun and pretty cool, but it is removed from the intended design inspirations that make Baxcalibur work. For example, the red pseudo-claws on Baxcalibur are inspired by how an actor’s hands woudl stick out of the original Godzilla suits, but they’re also made to look like the could be used for threat displays or other communication because they contrast well against the Pokémon’s snowy habitat. On your design, they look rather tacked on and seem like they would often get in the way. Overall I would say your redesign is adjacent to the original, not better than it.
I think regular Baxcaluber looks fine except for one single thing. The giant fin in the middle of its back looks so awkward. Give it two of them and make them spread out like wings. Also a small similar fin on top of its head. I know its based on Godzilla or whatever, but it looks so awkward. Although I do like the axe tail you gave it.
Check out the baxcalibur line’s illustration rare cards from the Paldea Evolved set. It shows how the design somewhat makes sense ( I still like yours a bit better in terms of practicality) + the art work is beautiful.

What do you mean with your note ( whats he gonna use this for) in regards to his giant spike. My brother in christ just look at his signature move.
I think your design would work for a regional form or paradox, but kinda contradicts his inpsiration. He could have more tiny spike on his back tho
Backscalibur is easily one of the weakest designs of S/V, and the fact that there are so many cool new pokemon is definetly not doing it any favours. I really like the concept art you made, and the axe swing “animation” is also a pretty nice touch.
I like it a lot. I’m a lifetime Godzilla fan I understand and enjoy the inspiration for the original but he does look kinda dumb. It’s a redesign yours is supposed to be different and people here are mad that it’s different lol.

I feel like baxcalibur needs a total rework for his design. I bet he could look awesome with a design like glavenus from monster hunter. Could get the “excalibur” part of his design across much better while still staying bipedal.
The face “flair” adds nothing to the “coolness” factor.
His new tail makes me think he can only swing effectively to the left.

Ice being one of my favorite typings on top of a dragon pseudo legendary was something i was excited for alas we got baxcalibur, just because its a reference doesn’t mean it automatically cant be critiqued. bad execution, design based on old godzilla not because godzilla was intended to be ugly but because it was what they could work for at the time so know we’re stuck with this instead of the modern godzilla that everybody loves, people defending bax with the ”it was supposed to look old” is just cope because godzillas inspiration is the only interesting and redeemable quality about bax since thats the only excuse people have to defend it because apart from that it already failed as a liked and popular pokemon

So many people have tried to redesign him and none of them look right, I honestly think it’s unsalvagable.
