Is there a certain nickname that you always seem give to a specific 'Mon? Like, you just give them that nickname so often in your playthroughs that now you just kind of associate that nickname with that Pokémon specifically in your brain?
I've got a few myself:
– Absol I pretty much always nickname "Dreadscythe", after the Yu-Gi-Oh card "Guardian Dreadscythe", because I thought it was so cool when I was watching Season 4 of the original anime as a kid
– Blastoise is "Shellshocker" thanks to my neverending nostalgia for the first Pokémon movie
– Shiny Metagross is always "X-ATM092", named after the Galbadian robot from Final Fantasy VIII that chases the player party towards the end of a mission early in the game

My Mareep is always named Asimov 😊
If I ever have a bulbasaur it’s automatically florasaurus. Because I don’t think there’s a better name for it
each time i get a garchomp, tyranitar, or corviknight they are named honor, valor, and pride respectively; after the bolt thrower album of the same name.
it came about because i was doing a music theme for the nicknames for my draft league and that set of names just stuck with me since
I like the nickname Kinniekins for a Fennekin after the one Shauna trades you at the end of XY (if you chose Froakie as your starter)
I always name my Gardevoir, ‘Chara’ and my Absol, ‘Praxora’.
This is due to in years long forgotten to me, I had a character in some game with a pet companion, both with such names. The save file for said game was destroyed when my father went at the family pc with a sledgehammer.
Deeply saddened by my characters ‘death’, and my hyperactive child brain, I latched onto the only things I truly remembered of my save, being their names, wanting to give them lives in more worlds, so they would never be truly lost.
So now, I have those two names spread across many games, not just pokemon. A backstory I haven’t thought of for several years.
Sirfetch’d will forever be know as Lanshallot. Missed opportunity for its actual name
for whatever reason i consistently name any budew/roselia/roserade i obtain Blumenkranz
(yes, after that theme from kill la kill)
Male Sylveon – Oberon
Female Sylveon – Titania
I always name my favorite Pokémon Roselyn if they are a female.
Every Squirtle I give Galapagos as a nickname.
I always name any (male) Dragalge I mainly use during a playthrough (preferably shiny) Takadox, after the Bionicle villain. The character is actually based of a mantis shrimp, but it’s close enough.
Not really “in every gameplay”, because it was only available in Violet’s DLCs for me, but named my Meloetta Velvet, and if I could have another one in a later game, I’d also name it Velvet.
I tend to use the old Pokegod rumor names for some of the RBY ‘mon (Charizard: Charcolt, Venusaur: Sapusaur, etc.)
every time i use a Crobat, i name it after a dessert
My Venusaur is always Brute Root, thanks to the first Pokemon Movie
I always name my electric types faraday and my aligator pokemon mahito from jjk
I name my Pokemon mostly after the trainers that had the Pokemon too.
Like the Salazzles I had on my Team were always named Plumeria, if I have an Annihilape I always name it Eri, and my Clodsires are called Rika.
I have three different teams of ten for each region with names for all of them.
Carracosta- Slapshot.
Archeops- Launchpad.
Helioisk – Friller.
bulbasaur has always been bubba since i was a kid idk why lol
I happened to be reading To Kill a Mockingbird and Animal Farm around the same time as certain games, so Surskit/Masquerain is now always Scout and Mudsdale is always Boxer.
Azumarill is also always Bounce. It’s a bit confusing if I have a Spoink on the team, or if Azumarill knows Bounce. I did have a fair few moments of ‘Bounce used Bounce’ during Scarlet, but the name’s stuck for me. I just like saying the word ‘bounce.’
When I use a Furret, I always call her Silver in honor of the Furret that carried my original Silver playthrough back in 2000. Even when she’s pink, she’s Silver.
Not Pokémon specific but they usually end in the word “pants” – especially if it’s the first time I ever catch the species. For example, the first mareanie I caught is “meaniepants” or a Pokémon that knows spark might be “sparkypants”.
