Fakemon

[OC] This pure Dark type Murkrow seems to have an affinity for soaring across the seas in search of treasure. If one were to perish on its lifelong journey, it appears that not even the afterlife can contain the manifestation of its ambition, evolving in the Dark/Ghost type Captalon.

Hello! I’m new to this community, after only really having been sharing my art on the Pokemon Masters sub. I’ve been dabbling in the world of fakemon out of a pure desire to see more pirate-related designs. It was all tied into this larger Pokemon Legends idea I had but… it’s gotten bigger than I can manage. So I’ll just share the designs that came out of it, haha. Murkrow/Captalon were some of my favorites in the bunch!

edit: Also just realized I wrongly put u/ dolli when it should’ve been u/ dollighted. I’m so used to signing ‘dolli’, so my apologies. :”)

Flying non-flying types are always interesting. Every other time it’s just because they’re dual typed and couldn’t fit flying, like with all the winged bug/poison types and Flygon.

And then you have the non-flying flying type Doduo line which you only ever see run. (Have they ever been shown to actually fly? I believe one of the stadium games gave them a Yoshi flutter jump animation but that’s about it from what I know)

Anyway, a pure dark Murkrow that still flies is really interesting. Looks strange at a glance since it still clearly flies, but opens room for a lot of nuance. I guess they can fly but land on the ground when fighting?

These are cool designs. But if you want my unsolicited opinion, I don’t think pure dark is that interesting or creative for a Murkrow regional form. I’m not seeing any reason why this species of Murkrow would evolve to not have the Flying-type, or vice versa. It is also not all that different looking from Johtonian Murkrow. I feel like it needs more contrasting highlight colours. As it stands, Captalon seems more like something that would be a better split evolution for vanilla Murkrow. Also I have to be honest, while the lore is very clear, I am not getting Ghost-type vibes from Captalon. If you study all the Ghost-types they all have some pretty overt ghostly elements, and I’m not really seeing it here. There’s no spectral/ethereal element, no floating, no mist/vapor/gas, no overt Halloween based inspiration. It has nailed the pirate-crow theme, I just don’t see Ghost in teh current design.

Have you considered making it part Water-type to go with the pirate theme? My first guess when I saw these was that they’d be Dark/Water-types.

    Regional Murkrow
    The Vagabond Pokémon
    Dark

Constantly on the prowl for treasures to steal, Murkrow of this region are known for their incredible stealth which allows them to satisfy their kleptomaniacal urges. They tend to be too cocky for their own good however, and may sometimes find themselves in danger when a heist goes wrong.

    Captalon
    The Wraith Pokémon
    Dark-Ghost

Despite being defeated during a failed heist, Captalon refuse to give up on their thieving ways, instead using their undead natures to their advantage. Victims report having felt nothing more than a slight breeze before the Pokémon swooped down, slashing them with its claws before stealing all their valuables.
