Hey everyone! My fiancé (a Liu) and I (a Wu) are getting married this year and are both big Pokemon fans. As a nod to that, we made a Pokemon battle simulator as our wedding invite, and fittingly named it WuLiuMon! Of course we added a twist — we replaced the Pokemon with our friends’ names and silly moves inspired by their personality quirks.
We wanted to make it personalized and nostalgic at the same time, so we borrowed the assets from the Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow Game Boy series to make a playable battle simulator, but made all the moves and types modifiable.
The game is built with only React Native. Give our demo a play! The code is available on Github so you can build your own custom version.
