Hello, I am making a map about each country represented by a unique pokemon. Your input is encouraged to improve the map. Please tell me which pokemon best represent your country.
Pokemon are selected by the criteria below:
1. Direct in relation. ❌If the pokemon has questionable connection with that country.
2. Distinguishable from others. ❌If the pokemon can represent more than one country. (e.g., elephant, lion, tiger, wolf are the national symbols of many countries; Both Italy and Turkey are famous for ice-cream).
3. Fair to everyone. ❌If the pokemon is legendary.
Most of the pokemon are self-explaining. For those may not be obvious:
Cuba: The design of Scovillain comes from Habanero.
Egypt: The design of Lucario comes from Anubis.
Finland: The design of Delibird comes from Santa Claus. It is believed that he lives in Rovaniemi.
Germany: The design of Dachsbun comes from Dachshund and Pretzel.
Indonesia: The design of Jangmo-o comes from Komodo Dragon.
Israel: The design of Hydrapple comes from Forbidden Fruit.
Madagascar: The design of Passimian comes from Lemur.
Mexico: The design of Hawlucha comes from Lucha Libre and Danza de los Voladores.
Norway: The design of Basculegion comes from Salmon.
Peru: The design of Sigilyph comes from Nazca Lines.
United Kingdom: The design of Granbull comes from Bulldog.

feels weird not doing a Galar Pokémon for the UK and a Kalos Pokémon for France
Granbull feels perfect for the UK, always reminds me of the Churchill Insurance dog.
The national animal of Scotland is the unicorn. Some form of Rapidash could work there.
Mincinno is from chile (Chinchilla)
nosepass is also from Easter Island, Chile
Antarctica would have the Piplup evolution line

I’d say roselia for the Netherlands, since we’re the biggest flower exporter in the world
I would add Bombirdier for Poland.
Stork is kind of our national bird and we have the most nesting pairs in whole Europe by far, estimated to have ~50% of world population. It’s hard to find a village in Poland without a single stork’s nest.
Isnt Doduo based on a (extinct) dodo bird? Those lived on a islands Mauritius near Africa.
They recently found the grave of Santa Claus in Turkey.
Not putting quaquaval for Brazil?
For Germany I wouldn‘t just say pretzel. We have tons of different types of bread here, bread is very important in life here.
Doesn’t Saudi Arabia import their Numel from Australia?
I may be missing something, but why is Avalugg Iceland? Isn’t that the less icy island?
bro slapped Persian onto Iran just bc of the name 💀💀💀
For Italy Smoliv. Italian extra virgin olive oil is the most famous oil in the world and a traditional italian food (over pizza)
Put Piplup in Antarctica, even if it’s not on this map.
I have a couple of ideas for my homeland of Iceland
1. Grimmsnarl or Hatterene to reference it’s history with trolls, fairies and witchcraft
2. Delibird to reference the Yule time being a very special thing
3. Runerigus/Perrserker because Vikings
4. Darrmanitan (Zen mode) because Iceland is the land of ice and fire
5. Talonflame because Iceland’s national animal is the Gyrfalcon and Talonflame is a falcon
6. Rapidash because Iceland is well known for its Horses and the fire is like the volcanoes
Corviknight for Ireland, lots of crows in Ireland and quite relevant in irish mythology. Also it’s a Galar mon and the ecosystems in Ireland and UK are (or rather should be) quite similar
Why is Miltank used for Nepal?
I think you picked a good one for Colombia. It should definitely be a bird of some sort, even if you later decide to change the inspiration away from the Andean condor.
Why is Algeria a Braixen?
I nominate Drampa for Bhutan.
Comoro Islands/Mozambique should have Relicanth (The islands have the largest coelacanth population)
Quaquaval for Brazil. Or hitmontop, who is a capoeira fighter
– Antarctica: Empoleon (Emperor Penguin)
– Japan: Kingambit (Samurai/Daimyo/Shogun)
– Scotland: Lapras (Loch Ness Monster)
– Thailand: Blaziken (Muay Thai)
I understand the cinderace, but that boy is English
The Braviary had me chuckling, then I saw the Hawlucha
Passimian is not really a Lemur i think? At least not as much as Grafaiai, which would be more correct, i think.
Mewtwo is Chilean, New exists in the south of Chile.
Oricorio is inspired by birds of paradise, which are mainly found in New Guinea, so I would put them on Papua New Guinea (as you already have something for Indonesia)
Oranguru can also represent Indonesia and Malaysia since we got a lot of Orangutan up in here (well before some idiots killing them for no reason).
Thank for all of your feedbacks. I have received many valuable comments in the last 24 hours.
**Solutions**
If there is no better suggestion, below modification will be applied:
Brazil: change from Cinderace to Quaquaval (thanks to Scarrmann)
Chile: add Cinccino
Estonia: add Taillow (Source: https://www.eesti.ee/eraisik/en/artikkel/republic-of-estonia/republic-of-estonia/state-insignia)
Iceland: change from Avalugg to Darmanitan (ice + fire) (thanks to Pancakelover09)
Madagascar: change from Passimian to Grafaiai (thanks to Joaco_LC)
United Kingdom: change from Granbull to Stonjourner
**Debates**
Below are pending for better suggestions:
Bhutan: I am unsure if Drampa should be added. This should a fair choice but not an awesome fit. Please check the argument from user raven_snow.
France: Is Aromatisse or Florges better than rooster? I would like to hear from French users, if possible.
Netherlands: I can make it the country of flower. The question is which flower pokemon? There are too many options such as Bellossom, Lilligant, Roserade, Tsareena. I wish to pick the one with the most direct Dutch relation.
Japan: Stop challenging the position of cherry blossom. Japan has numerous good choices such as sushi (Tatsugiri), samurai (Kingambit), sumo wrestler (Hariyama), snow woman (Froslass), Jomon figurine (Claydol)… However, only cherry blossom can represent Japan in all kinds. It is the image, spirit, and culture of Japan and the Japanese from the past and in the present.
Poland: The Poles are trying to get Bombirdier as White Stork is their national symbol. Any voice from Lithuania or other countries?
According to Bulbapedia Togepi and its line is a Korean goblin and Aron and its line is a Korean metal eating creature so you could split those up among the 2 Koreas. Neither of these creatures appear in other Eats Asian myths
Emboar is definetly more fitting for China. Absol is also more fitting being a Bai Ze. I am not sure if the Bai Ze appears in Japanese or Korean myth though.
Not the Nosepass as the compass lmaooo
