Pokemon

I’m struggling to find out how could I be able to work for the Pokemon TCG company as an artist. My portfolio isn’t solid yet but I’m trying to get there and going to an art contest is not an option for me because my country is not able to participate in them. Is there any way for me to do it?

  1. Keep working, keep practicing, keep sharing your art, you’ll improve and with time it will pick up. Right now i wouldn’t say you are there yet. Learn composition, perspective, values, lighting, color… so many things you can work on

Get inspired by other TCG artist and their path, I followed HYOGONOSUKE works on instagram for a long time before they became an official TCG artist.

Also, do know that working as an artist for Pokemon TCG is an amazing goal but if you want to make a living as an artist you need to broaden you art, knowledge and abilities.

  2. If you are in a country not able to compete in the contests the working for the pokemon company might be an even bigger stretch i fear.

From a cursory search it seems they do hire freelance worldwide ‘sometimes’ but most artists would be located in Japan where the company is headquartered.

Getting g a solid portfolio and sending emails to them enquiring about such things would be the best advice I can see given the info I came across (but it was a brief search!)

I wish you good luck with that dream.

Don’t be shy, send the company your art, again and again. Share it on socials and try to not put all your eggs in the same basket.

they’ve already hired everyone they want and if they havent the calibre is going to be extraordinarily high. set your expectations lower, especially with the competition both human and AI. plenty of ways to be creative and expressive that doesn’t involve pokemon.
