Support your LCS, they said, “It’ll only be a little above MSRP”
Went to check out a LCS and laughed at the owner. His response was "Dont worry, someone will buy em".

I’ve been a hardcore collector since 2013. Back then LCS was underpriced. If you wanted to spend money you’d go to target and buy Msrp. Crazy how covid changed the game
Dingo8MyBabyMon
Yeah, they can go fuck themselves with those prices.
ItsEthanSeason
That is crazy overpriced, def the LCS there. Other instances I’ve seen is the distributor marking up product to market price before selling to the LGS, thus the LGS has to raise prices. This one is just plain terrible.
BatHistorical8081
Make it worst they went to Walmart to scalper them lol
dekuhns90
They definitely got the display from Walmart
Foraging_For_Pokemon
I’ve been collecting on and off since 1998. I’ve been off since prices started soaring in December. I refuse to pay over MSRP for newly dropped products, and I definitely wouldn’t buy singles right now where they’re 100%-500% above where they were in December as a price correction is absolutely imminent. Some stuff is already seeing some massive corrections.
While the Pokemon market is how it is, I’m focusing more on my MTG collection at the moment.
DrMurphDurf
Name the LCS
Kooky-Parfait-2706
Even if this AUD that would still be way overpriced lol
fonzalonz
Name and shame. Fuck these places

The fact you can very easily find JT in stores for 1/4 of the price still
TreeFrogStyle
Maybe someone will buy one. But at $20 with market dropping on that set, I wouldn’t be so confident as the owner is. He will drop the prices, bet.

I had a Gamestop that probably only had 10 ETBs when Journey Together and Prismatic came out. 3 blocks away was a local game stop that had boxes upon boxes of ETBs that they were selling for more than twice the MSRP. When I asked them how they got so much and Gamestop didnt, all they would ever say is they “had a hook up”. whatever the f that means.
NickyPowers
The LGS I go through is 5 bucks. These clowns deserve zero business. The hottest chase card is like what 300 bucks? How do they even figure this is remotely worth it lol. Clown show.
RockmanVolnutt
Just wait, the way things are going, every single one of these LCSs, good prices or bad, are going to go out of business. No one will buy shiny cardboard when inflation doubles again, when the cost of the paper stock doubles, when these factories close. The supply chain for these products is not completely within the US, they aren’t going to be able to sell them for the price they would need to. Existing stock could become more valuable, if anyone can afford anything non essential moving forward, which looks unlikely.
Cantstop22
Says not to worry, but looks like they haven’t sold a single pack lol
Kick-Agreeable
trippin, put this place on blast. 100 dollar stellar crown etb wtf lol
EladrielNokk
My local shop has sealed 151 booster boxes… for 70 bucks. I went to Safeway last night and the Pokémon vending machine had one it it. That’s how I found out they’re worth around 30.
uisgebrathair
Not paying that for prismatic or even 151, definitely not for JT
Taylor34
There’s LCSs and then there’s resale shops guised as LCSs.
askmaddy926
There’s an LCS by me that charges these prices too, and they even charge a credit card fee on ALL transactions regardless of the amount. 5% under $20.
Popular-Database-562
New sets of booster boxes aren’t going to be $150/160 (CDN) anymore. I remember when they were affordable. Now? $300/350 for Journey Together and who knows how much the team rocket set boosters will be. Probably over $400…

My LCS didn’t have anything when I went last week (the usually get things a bit early) but they had the slot for packs and they were $10/pack! Found some at Meijer this week for $5.50/pack. A shame that even local stores want to ride the wave of these crazy prices
daneasaur
Went to a Barnes and Noble this morning, ETB’s, booster bundles, and blister packs. It’s not super hard to find this set. Less reason then ever to pay over MSRP
ucfgavin
I honestly don’t even mind paying a bit above MSRP at our shop. They’re great guys and I know they’ve got bills to pay. But no chance I would pay anywhere close to that.
proace360
Poor LCS just wants to make enough money to afford a printer. Their signs look like fucking shit
MechwolfMachina
I have not bought any sealed pokemon at any LCS for over 3 months now, hope they’re hurting. I hate to cheer for their downfall but it’ll force a change in practice and leave tons of scalpers holding Journey Together with no way to sell it except facebook where they’ll probably be trolled endlessly and rethink their life choices.
Bhagdaddi
Just paid $5.99 at target. I will never these scalper prices, ever. Pokémon can kick rocks and I have been collecting since 1996.
When prices are that high it isn’t an LGS it is a scalper.
Yetti2Quick
That’s 100% Walmart sleeves.
dfw2009
Straight out of Walmart lmao
jrev8
some of those same scalpers are local LCS owners
MundieMan
Never seen sleeves boosters displays like at a LGS. Certainly suspicious and all LGSs are different.
lastdarknight
well, the store owner had to get into a fist fight for those cards at cosco
Tsitra360
Yeah don’t support that LCS. My friend found that set with 20 packs, and 2 booster boxes at his shop. And he got them for $5 a pack. (And this was two days after the store got them, so he wasn’t there when it stocked)
WholeIndependent435
$100 for stellar crown 🤡
Stinklefresh
Journey Together is readily available, just keep looking
aidenxx96
Fuck them. That’s fucked up. They can shove that shit up their ass
Melodic-Row-9013
Stellar crown etb for 100? Lmfao
Poopsterwaloo
And looks like they still have a whole case and then some still 🤣
Chanamoo
Small shops have been overcharging for cards and games at least in areas where I lived as far back as I can remember buying super nintendo games as a kid lol… I’m sure there are good ones out there, but a lot of them are just greedy.
