What’s the Best Way to Enjoy Pokémon Black and White?

Recently, my desire to dive back into Pokémon reignited! It’s been over 7 years since I last finished a game on my DS. About a month ago, I completed Pokémon Platinum using a QoL mod (quality of life) along with the 60 FPS cheat to speed up battle transitions. Afterward, I played Pokémon X and just wrapped it up as well.

Now, I’m wondering what to play next. I’m considering Pokémon Black and White, but I’d like to know: what’s the best modified version (ROM hack) to fully enjoy these games?

I’m not interested in difficulty-increasing hacks, as I find them frustrating. I’m looking for something that enhances the experience by fixing things like trade evolutions or perhaps combining Pokémon from both versions into one game. Also, I’d prefer a hack that doesn’t alter the original story.

Do you have any recommendations?

I recommend JetBlack or BW Complete Unova Pokédex Edition

I’ll say it, hate me all you want: Pokemon Black and White was probably the single most fun experience in a Pokemon game as is. I’m a Gen 3 player, love me my Emerald, but the story and the levels of depth the characters in Gen 5 are unbeatable. For a first time play through, honestly I would just run UPRandomizer (not to randomize, but to fix trade evos), and leave it at that. I don’t feel like those games need the modifications to be great, especially with a first time play through. After, if you feel so inclined, it is also a really good game to nuzlocke for a bonus challenge.
