I've seriously been trying to wrap my head around this since gen 5 released.
I never understood how people can genuinely HATE these guys. Indifferent or not really liking them I understand but how can you hate pokemon that are so inoffensive.
Is it their roles? I've heard some people say they're just a worse version of your starter, but they never really try to be. They show up early in the game as a neat little counter, they never try to steal anyone pokemons spot.
Is it their designs? Now I do admit they aren't the perfect representation of see no evil , speak no evil , hear no evil. But there's nothing bad about it either, in the case of the prevos they are funny and cute in their own ways with distinctive personalities. And in the case of the evolutions simisage looks just straight up cool and swaggy.
Simipour also looks pretty unique compared to the others being more feminine, and simisear while being the weakest of the 3 still isn't a bad design. They aren't ugly, they don't look too goofy they aren't a wasted potential line.
This all came about because I used all 3 in my recent playthrough of x and I have genuinely fallen in love with them. Can anyone explain why they are seen as the some of the worst mons in the franchise?
