Please let me know what you do and don't like about this line 🙂
Dekkit (deku + kit) – The Budding Hero Pokemon – Dekkit are always looking for the perfect stick and bark to play at hero. The leaves sprouting around their neck hide a treasure trove of baubles found in their adventures.
Ketwix (keaton + twigs + betwixt) – The Courageous Pokemon – Upon finding the tools of their dreams, Dekkit evolve into Ketwix. Their tail secretes an enchanted resin that they are constantly using to polish, harden, and sharpen their sword and shield. Though brave, they are sometimes overly confident in their abilities.
Wargrove (warg + war + grove) – The Valiant Pokemon – Wargrove's weapons have been polished to a shine, allowing the shield to reflect enemy attacks back at them and the sword launch beams of sunlight. Their hand-like tail seems to have a mind of its own as it holds would-be attackers at bay while they duel foes in single combat.
Artist notes –
- The designs are unfinished – there are a few planning things I have in mind, but before I lock in the final designs, I wanted some feedback.
- Dekkit is based on Link's rabbit form in ALttP. Its tail is based on Navi from OoT. The pink fur on its belly is a callback to Link's hair in ALttP. Hopefully it's clear that the ears represent Link's hat.
- Ketwix is based on the Keaton, a three-tailed fox in MM with a mask also appearing in OoT. The "upper eyelashes" in this design represent the closed eyes of the mask. I chose it as a fox is sort of a middle-point between a rabbit and a wolf, with the ears shrinking and the snout and body growing. Its tail is a reference to Enzo, Link's living hat companion in Minish Cap.
- Wargrove is based on Wolf Link of Twilight Princess. Its tail represents Midna, and Link's cap is represented by a tuft of fur extending out of the back of its mane. The mane is a design reference to Wolf Link as well.
- All three of them have leaf "tunics" which I imagine to hold their "inventory" like a secret pouch, using some sticky sap on the interior. I also imagine this sap would be used to hold the shield on their fur.
- Haven't bothered with the hands or feet just yet. Not sure how I feel about the bracers and whether they'll even exist or just be a fur pattern. Not happy with the "shorts" fur pattern on Ketwix yet, and I think Wargrove needs a little more fur pattern love as well.
- Definitely not done with Wargrove's weapons, but would love to hear any input on those.
