Sugar Rush
Introducing (what I believe to be) the first regional variant Pokemon I've posted! Let's take a look at how the Garganacl line adapted to life in the Lyndom Region…does anyone else crave some rock candy right about now?
Dex Entries:
Nacli, the Rock Salt Pokémon. Certain nutrients it requires were lacking in the environment, so it supplemented its needs with a diet of sugary sap. People and Pokémon alike have enjoyed its crystals as a treat ever since the time of Lyndom's first human inhabitants.
Naclstack, the Rock Salt Pokémon; evolves from Nacli at Lv 24. This Pokémon concentrates sugars from its diet into beautifully colored crystals. It can often be seen with small Pokémon that require a lot of sugar in their diet nibbling on its body.
Garganacl, the Rock Salt Pokémon; evolves from Naclstack at Lv 38. Garganacl takes pride in the sugar crystals growing from its body. The leader of a group of these Pokémon is decided by the height and condition of its tallest spire.
Origins and Data:
These variants of the Garganacl line are based on sugar cubes, sugar crystals, and rock candy. While rock candy actually has its origins in Persia, I thought such a Pokémon would fit in my New England region because of one important reason: tourist gift shops. Every gift shop or old-fashioned general store I've been to in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont; whatever state in this region I happen to be visiting, there's always a jar of rock candy. As for why I didn't make these a rock/fairy dual type… 1. Sugar isn't a rock while salt is and 2. I needed some more single-type fakemon for my dex that I will hopefully be uploading to Instagram soon.
Mr. Goosefoot, the second gym leader of Lyndom's Pokémon League and owner of the Grand Whelk Casino, owns Pokémon from this line alongside his roster of otherwise Eastern Woodlands Native American-themed and casino-themed Pokémon (Pukpin/Pukvenom and Roulixie, who we may meet in a later post). In a rematch, he would certainly field a very strong Lyndomian Garganacl.
