As of Gen IX, Pokémon has Sunny Day, Rain, Sandstorm, and Snow as weathers with in-battle effects. But meteor showers is also a type of weather that while mentioned often in Pokemon games, is not a Weather either inside or outside battle. There are already several locations across the Pokemon world where shooting stars and meteor showers are mentioned to be falling or are common. This discrepancy is unfortunate!
Below are some examples of where this Weather could occur, either all the time, only at night, or just sometimes:
- Hoenn: Route 114 outside Meteor Falls and Fallarbor Town ("A town formed by scholars who gather to research meteorites"), Sky Pillar. Everywhere in Hoenn during the Delta Episode, like Extremely Harsh Sunlight/Heavy Rain beforehand.
- Maybe in the 3 lakes of Sinnoh, as a preview for the Pokémon of Space and Time? I could also see Team Galactic enjoying teams built around this weather.
- Unova: Dragonspiral Tower? And maybe Marvelous Bridge, where you find Cresselia for some reason?
- Kalos: Kalos Victory Road, in reference to the starry sky at the Pokémon League. Route 18 outside Anistar City as well.
- Alola: Mount Hokulani and Hokulani Observatory ("A mountain suitable for observing the stars"), the Lake of the Sunne/Moone (Lunala and Solgaleo's meeting place), and Vast Poni Canyon due to it being the site of the Dragon-type Trial. Maybe this weather gets more common at Night the further out the island?
- Galar: This weather could occur at Night, and bring Dragon, Psychic, and Fairy-type Pokémon. I could see it being more common at Night in the Crown Tundra.
- Hisui: This weather could occur sometimes at Night in the Coronet Highlands, and perhaps in the 3 lakes as well.
- Paldea: This weather could occur sometimes at Night around Alfornada, maybe more common in Kitakami?
Whatever the case, this Weather could boast plenty of interesting interactions with existing types. Maybe it could buff Dragon-types in an age of Fairy-types? It could also make late-game areas and Victory Roads a bit more treacherous. What do you think?
