Posted something similar on r/pokemonmisprints but I got nowhere. I found this card on the ground a few days ago and I’m extremely confused about its origin. It talks about “Yeshio” which after some sleuthing I learned is a tiny subreddit about a minecraft cult, but that doesn’t explain how a highly-realistic pokemon card was found IRL from a meme that has at most a hundred people in on it. The joke spawned from someone finding a similar cult tract in a box for the Minecraft game mentioning the same keywords and broken English. They also mentioned buying the game off of Amazon and there’s a warehouse close to where I live, so it could be the same rogue amazon worker slipping these into various products.
The thing that confuses me the most is the card itself – there’s no seam, there’s no evidence of tampering, there’s no indication of printing over an already existing card, which means that whoever made this used some very professional equipment to redesign it or made the entire card from scratch. It was buried in the dirt so it’s not in perfect condition to examine, but it seems at least to me identical to a genuine card save for the weird message.
Is there any chance that this is actually something pokemon-related of origin, or a mix-up at the factory with some other card game like Magic the Gathering?? Maybe something from the pokemon manga, anime, or games that references this?? I’m not really familiar with Pokemon besides the cards, and only vaguely familiar with that, but does the mention of “Yeshio” ring a bell to anyone??
Running theories are 1: the Yeshio subreddit has spread to the real world (there’s only a few people in on it so this seems unlikely) 2: Yeshio is something from pokemon, Magic or some other card game and it got misprinted at the factory and made its way outside or 3 (the one I feel is most probable) some lunatic working for Jeff Bezos is sneaking these ads into products for some sinister reason.
Any explanation??? I’m genuinely intrigued.
