Pokemon Go

How did I not know this until now?

My 7 year old has apparently known this for a while but it's news to me. If you are in the lobby of a raid, max battle, etc, if you long press on the pokemon it will pull up their moveset and tell you how effective it is against the competition. You can use this in team go rocket battles to infer which pokemon you'll be up against, similar to guessing based on who it auto selects for you. I've even been frustrated not being able to tell which moveset I'm picking when I have a lot of similar pokemon to choose from. Game changer!

If you long press on players characters while in a max battle lobby you could see their names and lvl

Since you mention rocket, the last sentence said by grunt identifies the type you’ll be facing.

There is literally a question mark you can press that tells you the counter types when battling against go grunts that isn’t the starter type

I still can’t find the menu people use to arrange their battle parties beforehand

You can also do this while picking a team for pvp

The rocket grunts give a one-liner that hints at what type they are, and most of them are not subtle. Also, once you set your team, it will automatically use the same team every time for that type of grunt.

I know why I didnt know, because lobbies are usually full in 2 seconds and then the 10 second countdown begins, thanks for sharing tho.

While this is a good PSA, it’s a funny thing for me. I run into LVL 40 players all the time that have no PVP or PVE sense and still run a lot of recommended. Just turns out some people play the game only for specific things, like shines or dex entries.. or costumed pikachus, which ks a whole subset of the player base, haha.

Because the game doesn’t really offer any tutorials on much.

i remember when they added this, i don’t remember the type effectiveness being there! but long pressing isn’t something people think to do, that’s why Apple got rid of 3D Touch on the iphones
