The Union of Slavastrany is no communist than the average Pokemon region, but rather is based on the geography of the Soviet Union. The vast region features tension between ethnic groups as well as the effects of industrialization and colonialism on minority groups. The starters are given by Professor Valerian, a young woman studying the relations between legendary pokémon.
Hornock: a pokemon based on the Shurale and Archura of Turkic mythology. I incorporated the wooly body and single horn onto a goatlike base. Hornock is a lonely pokémon that is ostracized to the darkest parts of the forest. Children sometimes will be lost playing with them but later found perfectly healthy, due to the nutritious leaves on Hornock’s body. It’s docile personality means that hornock find company with humans and are occasionally sheared for it‘s leaves.
Brantacle: Based on the misconception that barnacle geese came from barnacles. Brantacle live on on high cliffs on the sea and test themselves by plunging off cliffs. Their squishy body absorbs most of the impact but if their shell breaks the first time they are ostracized by their community and must find a new one.
Bichara: I couldn’t find a good name for this one. It‘s based again on a Turkish Chura, but the Bichura. I couldn’t find much information about it but it appears to be a household spirit sharing the same origin as the kikimora. It’s a household spirit that can be disruptive or helpful and may bed in hearths. It is apparently sometimes depicted as a cat or dog, so I chose a dog. Bichara are known for starting the fireplace(in its blazing form) and sweeping up cinders in it‘s normal form(blazing form is shown). These Pokémon are a valued part of the household, but may become destructive if it is unkept.
I would appreciate any tips on how to make them look more Pokémon-like, better designed, or cohesive.
