Hello, r/pokemon!
It's probably not an original idea, but I recently had a fun project I wanted to work on. I was your typical Gen 1 kid – I remember being outside on recess with a group of friends around me watching me attempting to catch Articuno with only pokeballs to my name.
I wanted to pay homage to younger me by making a framed piece of my favorite Pokemon as a kid, Kingler! I loved collecting cards as a kid and am so happy to see it as big (minus the scalping and a hobby for kids being ruined) as it is today.
My idea was to put together a set of all Kingler cards that exist, according to this source! Plus, two extra cards from back in the day. I also included a small island on the bottom right to put a small Kingler Nintendo TOMY vintage figure.
I can't find any good sourced information for the release dates for the 2000 Tops Pokemon TV card and the 1997 Kingler Japanese Carddass Series 3/4 card, aside from the year. Does anyone know this?
Additionally, I'd like your feedback on how I could potentially improve the art for the background I'll be putting them on. Do the evolutions of the sprites overcrowd it?
Lastly, I am putting them in some Cardboard Gold/Card Saver 2's and I'm trying to think of a good way to "attach" them to the back ground. Ideally, I don't want to tape them. Can you guys help me think of a good way to have them be held to the background with some kind of transparent material or better ideas?
Thanks a bunch! Really appreciate this community.
